Outstanding edition, Robert. I'd like to remind your readers that Georgia is a "strict voter ID" state. What that means is that Registration to vote is not enough. It is an incomplete. A voter needs a proper ID as defined by Georgia law to be able to cast a ballot. We at VoteRiders (www.voteriders.org) have helped millions of voters get the ID they need to cast a ballot. In Georgia, we have identified 157,000 registered voters who do not have sufficient ID to vote and have their contact information. Our non-partisan non-profit is currently deploying many of our 9,000 volunteers to assist in this effort. Registration is not enough!! Stephen Unger, Chairman, Governance Committee, Board of Directors, VoteRiders®

One thing Democrats can do is stop throwing good money after bad on statewide races in Florida. Yes, Democrats can win in DISTRICTS there - look at Maxwell Alejandro Frost, who is the most exciting newly-elected congress member I have heard from in 40 years with his knowledge, commitment and passion - but while Republicans have increased by 150,000 between 2018 and 2020, Democrats have declined by 10,000 in that time period.

If the national money spent on Val Demings - who as good as she is was never in real contention in any poll I saw when voters started paying attention after late August - had been invested in Cheri Beasley, she'd have won. As it was she came damn close. And if she had won, we would be celebrating the possibility of a 52 seat majority and the end of Manchinema as a problem. AND for those keeping score they would have still put a black woman in the Senate.

While I don't want the Republicans to take the House majority, if they do it's going to be by such a narrow majority that that collection of clucks may not be able to pass an organizing motion. Certainly neither Quiverin' Qevin or Striver Stefanik could drive that Kooky Klown Kar with the Fwee-dumb Kawkuss in back throwing their shit out the windows at passers-by while taking turns grabbing at the steering wheel. For two years we can point at the Monkey House and say "this is why you cannot have nice things" to voters. Yeah, Democrats would get hauled before their committees, but all they have to do to prepare is watch the tape of HRC making fools of them at the BenghaziBenghaziBenghazi hearing. Put all the D heavyweights on the Judiciary committee and then laugh at Coach Gym Jordan to his face and show him up as the moron he is. We can make it ashes in their mouths, make them not want to get up in the morning and go to work. And clobber them in 2024.

Fortunately if we do keep the majority, we'll have Pelosi to put in her master final appearance as the only Speaker who can have success with a bare majority since she has the big switch with which to herd the swarm of bees through the blizzard. Unlike the Republicans who probably won't be able to get agreement on ordering Chinese takeout for lunch.

While it’s not called yet, Katie Hobbs is very likely to be the next governor of Arizona (barring a MAGA miracle in favor of Lake in the final big Maricopa drop). One of the most positive developments of the midterms was the failure of the election denial slate of candidates in swing states. Voters came out in droves to reject those candidates. It also brought attention to the Secretary of State races, which up until know was largely an afterthought but is now more widely known as a integral part of the democratic process. We’re not out of the woods yet, but there is a lot to be proud of.

Something is on 'auto play' in my mind ... over and over again ... A DECENT MAN!! It makes all the difference!! The phrase was becoming almost an oxymoron!! But, for me, it's a game-changing bellweather!! And, Raphael Warnack is a DECENT MAN!! Just thinking of taking unearned power from that Munchkin guy is enough to keep me going, but more than that, Sen. Warnack is so obviously a kind, smart, decent man ... it seems like a no-brainer. Let's push him over, people. We need his decency!! Icing on the cake!!

My dream, to make Manchin irrelevant. Reason enough. The Sec of State races should have stayed on the radar after 2000; republican Katherine Harris helped the Bush crowd steal the election. How the USA has suffered from that debacle…

Glad the youth is “woke.” We all need to be. Being aware of the threats to us all is a good thing. Women seem to be the experts.

Thank you, Robert, for highlighting the importance of the Georgia runoff election and a Warnock victory. Airlift is raising funds for the Georgia Alliance for Progress, a consortium of 26 grassroots groups knocking on 3 million doors before December 6. The Alliance distributes funds where needed. and coordinates between the groups to reduce duplication. The Alliance groups are the trusted messengers that high potential voters will listen to. It’s not how many messages (ads) it’s the messenger that will get these voters to the polls for a second time in one month. Members of the Alliance include New Georgia Project, Mijente, and Asian American Advocacy Fund Please donate today. Thanks

One question…..with the polls being so wrong about the election and stories coming out about how the Republicans deliberately skewed them, has anyone thought about why the polls show Biden’s approval rating so low after all the good he’s done? Is there some nefarious polling being reported here too?

Robert,

Thanks for the clarification that reminds us of the importance of Senator Warnock's re-election. Most of us are not aware of the dynamics of committee rules, etc. One more Democratic Senator makes a huge difference in terms of getting things done. And thanks for the judges assessment. The ripple effect of having judges in place who are NOT partisan hacks will be felt for many years.

Another terrific Newsletter!

Raphael Warnock demonstrates intellect, humility and hard work. MAGA-puppet Herschel Walker does not.

One set of voters have been ignored as usual in the election analysis -- the Independent voter. There are more people calling themselves Independent voters than call themselves either Democrat or Republican. While the analyzers divide this huge block of voters as D leaning or R leaning, these voters themselves feel un-represented by either of the two major parties or by anyone. This election was a huge win for Moderates who reject the extremists candidates of both parties. President Biden, himself a moderate who believes strongly in working together across party lines, won on appealing to Americans on democracy itself. The increase in cross-ticket voting is another indicator of Americans tired and even disgusted by black or white nothing in the middle negative campaigning and putting Party over Country. Candidates are going to have to heed the voice of the vast middle of America which was very much shouting in this election. We, the People, all of us, this time - not just Rs and Ds - ALL of us!

If I didn’t trust the polls and the pre-election analysis of the mainstream media, why would I listen to their post- election analysis?

It may be premature to talk about the top of the Democratic ticket in '24, but those 2 years (really a lot less than that before things heat up and critical benchmarks occur) will fly by. With no disrespect for the terrific job Biden has done, we need a hard look at whether his age will handicap him - even if only in the eyes of the voters - and whether an 81-year old can win a very tight election. And of course, whether he'll be up to the job as he passes 82,3,4...not to mention choice of running mate, etc.

IF we need to re-focus on a younger candidate with more appeal to the increasingly youthful demographic, when does that figure into the next 18 months strategy? I'm sure Robert and Heather and others will address this soon; it needs to be part of a long-term plan to consolidate the amazing success of this recent election cycle.

I feel a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders with the election results. I have read the analysis from many sources and caution everyone to be realistic about 2024 potential outcomes. The Democrats need to continue appealing to younger voters as well as recruiting younger candidates to get involved and run for office. The abortion issue will still be an issue in 2024 but will not have the same motivation as now. The economic landscape should be improved and inflation will not be a major political talking point . I am predicting Trump will not be as much of a factor as he still is today. There are several young and dynamic governors who might be candidates and I hope they get involved. We cannot rest on our laurels and we must remember the Republicans are more motivated than ever to mount a major comeback campaign. What the election taught us is that the younger generation and Independents win elections. Let’s not forget that.

The most important reason to elect Warnock is that it will be another nail in the Trump coffin.
