If I was Adam Schiff, I wouldn't want to read the comments section in today's LA Times fort the article reporting his statement about President Biden. "I will never vote for you again!" and "Drop dead!" are running 10-1 ahead of any support for his shit. If Nancy Pelosi wants to send a message, let hert speak up herself, and if it's that Biden's too old, she'd best move out of her glass house first.

The real Democrats (us) are getting thoroughly fed up the surrender monkeys of the "Democratic elites" who have always been the problem when it comes to creating a political party that isn't run by wusses with backbones made of a single strand of overcooked Angel Hair pasta.

I wrote to Adam Schiff today to express my disappointment. Good idea to also contact Schumer and Jeffries. So upsetting!

When writing or calling Schiff, also please complain that when he tweeted about the assassination attempt, he referred to him as "President trump". A freudian slip? Seems the Congressman is trying to tell us something? He's nothing more than a turncoat!

I would not call Schiff a turncoat. He has simply disappointed many of us.

So disappointing…I heard him in an interview refer to tfg as an s.o.b. He is drifting in the wind. So disappointing.

I thought once a person became a presient of the United States. They were entitled to use the title of president before their name for the rest of their lives.

In Trump's case I make an exception. He claims, falsely, that he actually won the 2020 election.

So, calling him "President Trump" inadvertently feeds the false notion that he's still the Prez, or oughtta be.

This is exactly the kind of confusion that the Steve Bannons of the world -- and the Vladimir Putins of the world, use to "flood the zone."

I called all of the above and Pelosi and Booker (who was waffling on TV) to string express my dismay and disgust that they are not showing strength and unity which only fuels the media feeding frenzy and helps Trump. This nonsense has to stop. If someone has a better plan that includes Harris and is based on data, that would be something, but literally no one has even “leaked” a better plan.

I wrote to Schiff as well, twice, but Congressional offices filter people who are outside the district. So I faked an address. I don't know whether that got through. What's wrong with our country when a leading senatorial candidate tells a President he can't win and a supporter of the President cannot use the "wonder of the Internet" to let said senatorial candidate know how he or she feels about that? Joe Biden's old. Trump's old and dangerous and a horrible person and our political system, including both parties, is suffering a hardening of the political arteries that is always favorable to autocracy.

A fine article indeed. Thank you. I must get this off my chest, though , I am shocked at how CNN management is allowing staff who I once so admired, to speak so aggressively against President Biden as the candidate to run against Trump! The way Jake Tapper, speaks of Biden, one could think Tapper's pro-Trump, or incredibly naive to think a new, younger candidate could guarantee a win in November. I think Biden's grace in dealing with members in his own party who are working to bring him down is inspirational, not to mention,Presidential. I also praise Bernie S. for being the adult in the room and standing by Joe.

Susannah - I couldn’t agree with you more regarding Jake and CNN. What is going on?? I got so frustrated one day I tried to send feedback (in a strongly worded but civil email). It too, like your email to Tapper, bounced back from all lines of comminication to CNN's Atlanta headquarters. I'll finish wih this . The news keeps coming in of the weakening of Biden's key backers. There is another factor to consider. Maybe the people you referenced are so afraid of a second Trump Presidency they can’t see how Biden can win because they have a different view of the electorate. Robert, all I can say is Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! You are taking a lot for the team, and you have the respect and admiration of most of us.

So too does President Biden. It is indeed unfortunate that as Rome is burning, so many are fiddling. Our nation's very survival is on the ballot in November. The Republican ticket, with Vance as VP, virtually assures that Project 2025 will replace our Constitution if they are elected.

I am also deeply disappointed in the high level infighting, and both the public and leaked statements about it. How can we hope to unite the country when we can't even unite ourselves?

I suspect that our course will be set within the next week, after the GOP folds its circus tent. Until such time as President Biden decides to step aside, he is our only hope to keep our nation from losing 248 years of progress. We must support any Democrats who are on the ballot. I intend to do just that.

Expand full comment

Your sentiments reflect how most people are feeling which is we will support any Democratic candidate but deep inside have some doubts about Biden

Expand full comment

I wouldn't say I have doubts. I have concerns. President Biden has far exceeded my expectations of what he could have achieved with a narrowly divided Congress and a Supreme Court stacked against him by Felonious T, to say nothing about the mess he's had to clean up.

He sees the presidency as a team effort, not a single person, and we should see it the same way. I think I'm less concerned about us right now than I am about him. I have confidence that we'll right the ship. I just hope it happens before we run aground.

Expand full comment

I am way more concerned about us than about him. He is doing everything right at this moment. Too many of us are calling each other names and impugning each other's motives. In this thread we are telling people to call Schumer and others, as opposed to phone banking with voters. THAT is the problem.

Someone who thinks Biden will lose and should step down is not my enemy.

Expand full comment

Thanks, Judy. I think we're looking at that comment a little differently, and I agree with you in your context. The infighting is very damaging, and even the tone of some comments here is concerning. I support President Biden until such time as he decides on his own that he should step aside. He doesn't deserve the public or leaked comments he's been subjected to, but maybe the urgency requires it. In any case, whether you're for or against his candidacy, our opponents are the ones in Milwaukee, embracing Project 2025.

It's been crazy to see all of these RNC speeches and "everyday Americans" attending the RNC who complained about immigration for 75% of our issues and why Trump is the best, but never blamed Trump or the party for stalling the most comprehensive immigration reform in literal decades. These are not serious people and Biden has put on master class in class and governing in a difficult and divided government.

Well said Bob! After another sleepless night, per usual, my hubby and I find some solace in this community of fighters and believers. It makes me really sad that Robert is taking the full on fire hose of Dem anxiety and panic manifesting itself as s**t talking to our own. As if we need to pile on the already bad levels of anxiety that we all have as our baseline!!

I've decided the best course is to take on the task of telling everyone I can about project 2025. Not only have I been surprised at the lack of knowledge out there, but also the shock I see in people's reaction when I start listing out the stuff in this plan. It seems to end the hand wringing about Biden for the moment.

I think rather than in-fighting, our key battle is informing people on the project.

Expand full comment

We certainly need to get back to that. Perhaps after the GOP convention, we can start drawing straight lines between P2025 and their platform.

One problem, as I see it, is that Ds are generally highly principled, while today's Rs are not. We let our principles get in the way of progress. As divided as we are over President Biden's candidacy, it's hard to see whether unity or hard feelings will rule the day.

Secondly Robert, I am fuming over the cowards that email you to belittle you when you are doing everything you can to elect our presumptive nominee who was overwhelmingly voted for in our primaries. Why can they not say that here in the comments? I am betting some of them are trolls. How is it that so many "people" (sometimes it can be bots) do not remember what happened in 2016? Recall Cambridge Analytica, Russia, James Comey, "her emails". etc. Those that are actual Democrats are short sighted and cannot realize they are helping advance the dirty GOP playbook. They play dirty as that is the only way they can win! Then, with the help of the weak Dems, bots and trolls, when Joe Biden wins in November, the GOP will be empowered to say "the election was rigged!"

We need to move on from this narrative that is sowing division amongst us, just as was done in 2016. It's an unscrupulous plan delivered by the GOP, and those buying into it need to wake up and join the great majority of us that support our nominee, Joe Biden.

Expand full comment

Yes! One of the first things a Trump administration wants to do is abolish the Department of Education. If you want to get an idea of how the quality of education would be diminished, then look at what DeSantis is doing here in Florida. Briefly, Florida has Charter Schools which are publicly funded & don’t have the same requirements to admit everyone as public schools do, and there is also a Voucher Program (paid for with tax dollars), which subsidizes tuition at private schools, including religious schools, and also includes

« home schooling ». Any family, regardless of income, qualifies for the subsidy. I don’t have a problem with anyone who wishes to send their child to a private or religious school, or who wishes to home school, but I have a problem with my tax dollars paying for it. Then shall we discuss banning books? Or DeSantis taking over (a successful) New College of Florida & changing their curriculum? With a Republican supermajority in the Florida Congress, his proposals are rubber stamped.

I think schools should require all students to take & to pass a critical thinking class & a class in logic to graduate.
