As for what's happening about changing the filibuster rules for voting rights legislation, we're going to know whether Biden and Schumer are deft or ham-handed only after the fact. That is to say, I hope that there is much going on behind the scenes, and that that is where the real action is so far as the filibuster is concerned. But I think you are exactly right that time is growing very short.
I agree that Biden needs (unfortunately) to play his cards carefully in the game to get Manchin and Sinema to support ending the filibuster. Human nature dictates that shame is a powerful instigator of irrational defensiveness. I think he must (and hope is currently striving to) work with them behind the scenes to create a way for them to "do the right thing" while also saving face. I think for Biden to "call them out" runs a real risk of them choosing the wrong path merely to assert their independence. However - i agree with you, that WE can definitely call them out, and should
