Question—what is the role of CA Lieutenant Governor (elected position)? And why doesn’t s(he) take the place of Governor if recalled? Would not this stop some of the crazies working to undermine things?
Under California's recall statute, if the governor is recalled, the replacement governor is elected on the same ballot. The Lieutenant Governor could have placed her name on the ballot, but Democrats closed ranks and essentially said "No Democrat will run against Newsom."
Understand but when/why, if ever, they do not “fall back” on a duly elected official that by all appearances, wold be the “replacement,” rather than someone who might only get 20% of a vote in the recall. I guess I’m looking for historical context here.
Let's be frank: The 2020 election was rigged. But Democrats won anyway.
Exactly!
Bad faith is descriptive of so much that is happening in GOP. Thank you for keeping justice very much in sight throughout the current debacle.

Small point in your cavalcade of bad faith efforts to undermine democracy, but it's September 8th.
Thanks, I have corrected the typo.
