You deserve a break from grammarians and proof readers since you already have the best one in your Managing Editor. Thank you for exemplifying good sense, moderation, and the rule of reason in your reporting. You are a bright light in a pretty dark news scape.

OK. can we finally agree now that Manchin is NOT a "moderate?" He is a conservative whose views are most closely aligned with those of the Republican members of the Senate. He will be responsible for the failure of Biden's ambitious agenda and the Republicans will claim in the run up to the 2022 elections that Biden's administration has been a failure. I am saddened and heartbroken because I had had such high hopes thanks to our Senate majority.

Have a wonderful time at Disneyland! I grew up in Fullerton and spent many hours in the Magic Kingdom. Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Haunted Mansion had a few good places/moments for making out on dates😀. I hope that you have as much fun as I did.

Back when Disneyland was the FIRST park of its kind, we thought it was truly magic. Remember the E tickets? Glad you were born, glad you are such a contributor to a better world for all.

Thank you for your enlightening insight on the lab-leak controversy & on the recurring Sen. Manchin problem. Enjoy celebrating your ‘managing editor’s’ birthday!

Senators Manchin & Sinema have given the XPresident’s GOP an ongoing majority in the senate. It seems we all know this but it’s not being reported as such. Does the Biden administration get this?

“Democrats remain a racially and ideologically diverse coalition, they lack their rivals’ unity of action. The mostly white party can be ruthless, but it does not represent a majority; the diverse party represents a majority, but coalition politics prevents it from being ruthless...

... Most elected Republicans have repudiated the violence of the Capitol riot, but they share the belief of the rank and file that the rioters’ hearts were in the right place.”

This editorial in The Atlantic is an eye opener with some insightful supporting links. Worth your time.

If they want to hold onto and perhaps even increase their slim majority in the House and maybe even win a few more seats in the Senate, the best thing that the Democrats could do would be to put forth less progressive candidates, people who could actually WIN. No point in « proving a point » her and going out on a limb. Reasonable, real democrats who could appeal to more reasonable and rational and non political Republicans is what is needed to truly win the day. Democrats can stand on their progressive principles…and lose…or be a little more flexible and reasonable and sweep away the Republican detritus.
