I am not so willing to shift any blame away from Manchin and Sinema. As far as I can tell, they are preventing the Democrats from achieving anything during this time, which is a great gift to the Republicans. When two specific people hold that much power, they ought not be able to shift blame away from themselves. They can see, along with the rest of us, that the Republicans are out to destroy, one red state at a time. They are obligated to protect democracy. The choice now is betwewn protecting our American democracy or leaving it to the crazy wolves.

I understand your viewpoint and think it is reasonable. In my view, we aren't going to change the minds of Sinema and Manchin, and should focus on outvoting them with new Democratic Senators. but if people want to try to change their views, more power to them!

Thank you for the summary of the various investigations into origins of the coronavirus. What it demonstrates for me is the incomplete status of all — incomplete in the sense that it does not appear any have advanced beyond the stage of developing reasonable, evidence-based hypotheses for conclusions. As with other important and consequential public issues, the know-nothing conspiracy of right-wing media commentators, demagogues and useful idiots in the Trump cult are seizing on bits of information to conjure new fantasies. In reference to Mark Twain, folks like Fauci — and you — need continue putting on your shoes while the fantasies are racing around the world.

While it is important to understand the source of CoV-2, I could never understand why the media wasn't more focussed on Dr. Fauci's true responsibilities....helping the President and public understand how the virus was evolving and spreading in the public and explaining the every-increasing and changing scientific understanding of its medical implications. Two totally different issues. thank you for your explanation, not tedious at all.
