It’s pretty awful to watch friends, journalistic and otherwise, panic. That’s why I read you before I even glance at the headlines. Thank you is all I can say.
Thank you for giving me hope. Recently reminded that Susan McDougal served 18 months for ignoring a federal subpoena to testify in the Whitewater case against the Clintons. Dan Scavino, Mark Meadows & Steve Bannon should face the same.
Thank you Robert for another really great newsletter. I especially appreciate the introduction’s message and am glad it was first; so many of us are on the Humpty Dumpty wall between hope and hopelessness. I very much like your categorization of topics, it helps with clarity. Stay Calm and Write On (smile).
One note: The Select Committee does not need to refer Trumpists' refusals to honor subpoenas to DOJ (although it could). Congress (the House alone, I believe) could hold them in contempt and enforce its own order. (Although that would be complicated, as the sergeant-at-arms would have to find the subjects and take them into custody.) I think that both DOJ and Congress could move at the same time. Indeed, there are different charges available: Obstruction of Congress and Obstruction of Justice.

Thanks, Jim.

Eloquent.

Yes, hold the fort! The fort is democracy.
