I am so glad you highlight Rubin’s piece—she is a fine columnist. As for Sinema, if all she gets from her job is the need to get away, maybe she should consider a career change. Thank you for your unrelenting focus on January 6 and the threat of He Who Shall Not Be Named. Nothing will change until we can deal with the past honestly.
Honestly, it is difficult to maintain a civil tongue about Sinema. Apparently she has a wine tasting tour set up and she isn't going to let anything interfere with it -- like a pesky bill that will benefit hundreds of millions of Americans that she helped negotiate. She has been a profound disappointment on so many levels. Jennifer Rubin is great.
Thanks for all the effort and heart you put into the newsletter. I start the day with it. I want to say, just ignore those pesky grammarian anklebiters. Not worth your time - or ours.
Thank you so much for mentioning Joe Manchin's "houseboat!" I dunno, looked more like a fancy yacht to me, and here he was entertaining Republican buddies like Lindsey Graham. My spirits sank when I saw that vessel and had to acknowledge that he was just a very rich white man with financial backing from the coal industry and Republican donors in Texas; a man whose heart won't be moved by the needs and wishes of anyone but himself!
The new slogan of the Republican Party is Let My People Die. But the American people are aware of that, more and more every day.
I did not take you to task for using "Democrat Party" yesterday, but I will today. Republicans started using the term "Democrat Party" back in the 1940s. It was a sign of disrespect--Republicans could not be bothered even to learn the name of the our party. They have used it constantly since then, always as a sign of congtempt. Sadly, many people who are not Republican partisans, including many in the press, have picked it up. It is stil a slur, however. I'm sure that your error was merely a slip of the finger on the keyboard after a long day, but that one hurts.
In a newsletter today from Robert Reich, he said: zzzzzzz'This final revelation – Trump’s December 27th call to the acting attorney general in which he pleads “Just say the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me” – should trigger Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars anyone from holding office who “engaged in insurrection” against the U.S. The current attorney general of the United States, Merrick Garland, should issue an advisory opinion clearly stating this." Do you agree with this, Robert Hubbell? If yes, why do you think this is not happening?

I believe the "houseboat" is his "house" as in "primary residence." Strange.
