I just texted SIGN PRRBTG to 50409 - easy peasy. Now on to emails about S.1141.

I know it sounds corny. But if we peep as individuals it can add up to a roar. Being silent during this nightmare is surrender. I'm not givin' up.

Glad to hear that you liked the text-bot. It's not for everyone, but every little bit helps. Thanks for doing your part!

Bill, if we pass along this information to friends, family and our organizations, we can leverage one into thousands. For example, I'm passing along this information to 30 people in my Indivisible Santa Barbara group. We'll add it to our newsletter. For those of you who use Facebook (never been my thing), perhaps spreading this message will help drown out the misinformation they spread.

I agree there needs to be pushback to our Senators and House members regarding Roe and every call and email helps but where are the folks who in the past have organized marches on Washington when a million people show up in protest? My belief is many

government and Supreme Court justices think they can do what they want because the blow back will be short lived and not hurt the Republican Party in elections. A mass demonstration may change some minds.

Very good point; I will promote events suggested by readers demonstrating against the overruling of Roe v. Wade.

I think what I enjoy most about Robert Hubbell's Newsletters is his clever use of words. Few lawyers can turn phrases at will like our RH. My favorite today: "the descent of the GOP into madness." Yep. That captures it perfectly. Well said!

Please, can we start a conversation about Rupert Murdoch and Fox news’ culpability in spreading and “legitimizing” misinformation and normalizing the utmost uncivilized behavior I’ve ever experienced as an immigrant who has lived and worked in the US since 1986? Thank You.

Hi, Flip. This is a good suggestion and I will pay more attention to this in the future. Thank you!

And caring about the life seems to stop once the child is born. Family supports (paid family leave, a living/not minimum wage, and other safety nets that will lift those same families that can’t afford a child, or to travel to or finance an abortion) are not supported by Pro life groups. Hypocritical to say the least.

1. Regarding E.J. Dionne's comments about the term "pro-life," we should all be using and should encourage the press to use the term "anti-abortion." That is more precise. "Anti-abortion" was the common phrase until right wingers campaigned to change what they were called. 2. Regarding the Georgian tandem of Raphael Warnock for the US Senate and Stacey Abrams for Governor, let's add a third -- Lucy Inman for the NC Supreme Court. Democrats currently have a 4-3 majority on the Court. Democrat Sam "Jimmy" Ervin IV (does the name Sam Ervin sound familiar to anyone?) is running for reelection. And Democratic Appeals Court Judge Lucy Inman is running for the seat of a Democratic judge who is retiring. Retaining that 4-3 majority is extremely important for how the people of Georgia will live in the next several years.

Excellent point, Len. I will discuss Lucy Inman. Have you published a Note on her candidacy?

Thank you. I have published a note about her candidacy. The current Justice only recently announced her retirement. Inman, apparently, had anticipated the retirement and announced her candidacy immediately.

Sorry. I have NOT published a note about her candidacy.

I agree completely - those of us who are Consistent Life Advocates must regularly call to accountability those who are singularly anti-abortion, especially in our churches.

Both my Senators (Scott & Rubio) have “gone dark”. Unable to contact via phone or message 😡

That speaks volumes. They don't want to hear from the Democrats in their state whom they represent!

maybe you could create a Where's Waldo-like meme that would point out their disappearance.

Thank you for a positive letter today. Frankly, the state of the country is depressing, and it helps to read some positive perspective.

Today I’m feeling so many difficult emotions about the Michigan school shooting. The prosecutor said she was angry, yet We’ve been angry since Columbine. Every time this happens we talk about how we need to change gun laws. Yet children still die in horrible, violent ways. Just very difficult right now,

The indictment of the parents for involuntary manslaughter may finally bring a dose of reality to parents who allow children and teenagers to have access to guns. It is very difficult and there no easy answers.

My dad was a farmer and a hunter in the fall and winter. I saw him clean his guns and put them away. He plainly told my brother and me not to ever touch his guns. I would NEVER, EVER have touched his weapons or gone looking for them. But that was many decades ago. Those folks who claim to be “pro-life” who will not vote for any curbs on gun access or pass legislation to help care for children just make me furious!! Even more so because l have 2 rethuglican senators and a sedition caucus House rep.

I think that Judges Roberts and Gorsuch are sufficiently institutionalist to balk at voting down Roe v Wade

I hope you are right. I fear you are wrong. I agree with you about Roberts, but Gorsuch holds radical views on many subjects because of his "originalist" judicial philosophy. He has already written some dissents so extreme that not even Clarence Thomas would join in his views.

I've been trying to convince my state party to change/work on messaging for a dozen years now. I keep pointing out that we message as if we are trying to impress a dissertation advisor instead of trying to reach people in their heart. Small groups of Dems have created ideas but get no traction with the state party.

some include:

--Some people claim they should be able to choose vaccination based on their own convictions, but a woman in need of an abortion is told to rely on the convictions of others. You can't have it both ways.

--If your opponent says a fetal life is sacred, you reply with, A woman's life is sacred, too.

--North Carolina teachers have the skills they need to educate North Carolina's students, but republicans refuse to properly fund their efforts. These republicans just won't get out of the way of our kids!

as an aside, I have lost respect for republicans and no longer capitalize the first letter....

--Yes, Democrats want to see every business make a profit, provide that making that profit did not cause harm to others, so, no mercury in our streams or lead in our drinking water.

--Only Democrats fight for your right to vote.

Those hardest to reach are the party's historical leaders.

Is there some action we can take with regard to the media? Their reporting is so slanted. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/12/03/biden-media-coverage-worse-trump-favorable/
