High praise to Cassidy Hutchinson. She has the ovaries to admit a mistake and tell the truth. A good example for other Republicans. Just do it. Grow some ovaries.

Yay for getting another seat in Alabama (I'm allowed to celebrate: I live here). Now lets get some more in Louisiana and other egregiously gerrymandered states!!!

Thank you, Robert, for brightening my day with this issue of the Newsletter! Trump’s empire has taken a blow. I hope that his empire crumbles around him. I would love to see Trump Tower removed from his clutches. Hopefully, New York will run him out of the state, not just the City!

I am thrilled that the Supreme Court did its job and is forcing Alabama kicking and screaming out of the Jim Crow Era!

I am delighted to hear about Cassidy Hutchinson’s decision to tell the truth to the January 6 Committee. Hopefully, others will follow.

I will be checking out early voting here in Virginia so that I can cast my ballot for the Democratic ticket. My county, which borders on Lynchburg, home of the late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, will unfortunately vote mainly red. Trump is still a hero in these parts, unfortunately. My neighbor across the highway keeps his Trump sign up year around and his Confederate flag in his upstairs window. I can’t see them unless I enter the four lane highway from my long driveway into the woods. I pretty much ignore it.

I hope that union voters all over the country get the message that Trump is not for them and that he is aligned with the wealthy corporate heads.

Finally, when will West Virginia wake up and kick Joe Manchin to the curb?

Kellyanne Conway coming up with "alternative facts" most probably wasn't just a response to Trump lying about the crowd size at the inauguration. The preposterous negation of reality was a calculated attempt from day One of the administration to replace truth and reality with alternative facts. Press Secretary Spicer was the sorry dunce who had to fall on his sword and the brains behind it (looking at you, Steve Bannon) were on their way.

Trump has endorsed and championed the season of the sociopath. He gives credibility to immorality and deceit. James Comey warned that Trump will eat your soul in small bites.

Clearly, the American people are angry and afraid of their lost economic security and challenges to stay afloat. The GOP agenda over the past 50 years has insidiously sequestered wealth for the 1% and drained the prosperity of the middle class.

The big lie and fomenting divisive social issues has been the GOP strategy for decades. They effectively picked our pockets as they hypocritically created distractions to hide their thievery. The GOP strategy is unsustainable. MAGA simply is the escalated crescendo of this deceit.

The greed and power grab knows no boundaries. Nothing is sacred. The only remedy is the rule of law and setting limits. It is refreshing to see the tide beginning to shift. We must stay active and vigilant.

1. Trump's "autoworker scam" is being organized by the National Right To Work Committee - a well known long time anti-union outfit, and his appearance will likely be picketed by the UAW.

2. Quiverin' Qevin's "minor progress" is a "CR" that cuts 80% of Title I education funds for poor schools, removes 1 million people from SNAP, and cuts home heating assistance 65% just before winter. Boy, those morons can really pick "winning issues," eh? Lots of popularity out in the country to Screw The People. I'm sure the Senate can't wait to pass it and Biden's waiting up to sign it. (/snark)

I'm pretty sure Qevin couldn't find his ass with both hands on a clear day with a two hour advance notice, but what do you expect from somebody from Bakersfield, the capital of Okiefornia?

Two thoughts, well not exactly thoughts. More like imagined conversations:

1. About the Alabama decision. It is almost as if the Supreme Court were trying to find something noticeable enough to regain their reputation. Imagine justices saying to themselves and each other: We can prove we are not racists, we can provide victories in Alabama and, in effect Louisiana and Florida without giving up our commitment to ending the regulatory state.

2. About telling the truth. It is almost as if Trump were talking to his sons or to fellow business scammers. Imagine him saying. We did nothing wrong. Everyone lies to make a buck. It is the responsibility of the buyer or the like to wheedle out the accurate figures. To tell them the truth would be us doing their job for them. If Trump had paid attention in school, he might even have said "caveat emptor."

Thank you for an excellent issue. I have tremendous admiration for Cassidy Hutchinson and I'm looking forward to her book which I have now on my Nook. I look forward to watching the recorded Lawrence O'Donnell appearance this morning. But for anyone who has on demand or has it recorded, her first interview was on Monday nights Rachel Maddow show and it was excellent. She is really amazing. This is written by Shelley Conture

Thank you once again, Robert, for clearly defining the top stories of the day. The interview of Cassidy Hiutchinson by Laurence O'Donnell, and her heartfelt appeal to Kevin McCarthy to do the right thing, came across loud and clear. Let's hope some Republicans hear her message. And Paul Butterfield providing context 50 years later gave me faith that it's possible we may survive this time.

I do not often quote the Bible, not being a religious person, but in the case of the summary judgement against Trump, I feel it was fitting

"And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32. THe verse is also the slogan in the lobby of the CIA Headquarters in Langley, Va; but that is beside the point.

Trump's house of cards is falling, and who knows that the court appointed receiver will discover in the course of liquidating the Trump Organization. How long before his name is stripped off of his flagship building on 5th Avenue? How long before he has to go back over the bridge to the family home in Queens? How the mighty will fall.

Yesterday's ruling against The Defendant in the NY civil case was certainly a breath of fresh air, but "if it survives on appeal" is disconcerting. What is the likely outcome of an appeal, how long is it likely to take, and could it end up at the Subpreme Court?

Yay for President Biden standing on the picket line with striking auto workers! We need to encourage him to become as he says the greatest pro-union president in our history. Policies that foster stronger unions and more collective bargaining are key ways for the government to tip the economic, and thus political, playing field away from big corporations and the wealthy back to the remaining 90% of us. Since Reagan government has been structuring the economy to redistribute income upward aka supply side economics. Right-to-work laws are one of the major ways conservatives use government to intervene in markets to redistribute income upward at the expense of workers. Conservatives also like policies that foster monopoly power of large corporations. So, yay for the Federal Trade Commission joined by 17 US states in their anti-monopoly suit against Amazon, which is one of the most ruthless corporations of our time.

Oh yeah, and Joe Manchin is one the great political skunks of our time as well.

I have not seen Lawrence O’Donnell’s interview with Cassidy Hutchinson, however I did see her interviewed by Rachel Maddow. If you haven’t seen that one, I’m guessing you can find it in YouTube or somewhere. Well worth it. She is a remarkable young woman, a loyal Republican - more of what the current Republican Party needs. I am going today to buy her book “Enough”. I am buying it from my local bookstore, not from Amazon. She has received death threats, has had to pay exorbitant fees for legal representation and security. The least I can do is buy her book - and actually read it! 😉

Strikes me that John Adams expressed the epitaph for the Trump maladministration when he wrote, “Facts are stubborn things.”

Quite an upbeat newsletter today. Thank you Robert. I’ve watched both Rachel Maddow’s and Lawrence O’Donnell’s interviews with Cassidy Hutchinson. What an impressive young lady. She is destined to go far despite her insistence on remaining a Republican 😁😁😁

Cassidy Hutchinson --- I admit to not having read her book. I just watched an interview on Morning Joe. I may not know all the facts, but based on what I saw, I was again appalled. Even on Jan 6th, she failed to see, or 'know', the true nature of Trump. She had been in the administration for years: had been a part of the attack on immigrants, children in cages, anti abortion anti women rhetoric, the rapes and grabbing women by the *****, the unremitting lying, the attack on a journalist with a disability, the Neo Nazi march with good people on both sides? Pleeeez. I love women with ovaries (a term I often use too) but it seems that hers only materialized after thinking about the dollars she would get from a 'tell all book' - which is only 4 years too late. I found the interview self serving and her suddenly seeing the light unbelievable, And -- of course Joe and Mika could only faun over her 'courage'.
