Thank you Robert, I have reached my boiling point.

I am getting more than annoyed at the continuance of the media narrative that Joe should step down. "We are not MAGAs- we don't steal elections". We don't just throw votes out. If you are compelled to buy into this propaganda, know one thing- by continuing to push this nonsense, you will only keep people from being able to GOTV for Democrats.

I called Nadler's, Morelle's and Warner's offices yesterday and told them to STOP with trying to throw out my vote! I will call Chuck Schumer (my senator) today and tell him to shut Mark Warner down with his ridiculous proposition that Joe must step down. I think I will also demand a public apology from Warner. I will also call the White House and ask them to deliver a heartfelt "thank you" to Joe and Jill for putting up with all this crap from their own party.

Think back to "Oh, but her emails", which ushered in the 2016 win for the Convicted Felon. People need to learn and use some basic common sense. Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin will tell you all about it and get you fired up! Take some solice from what happened in France and in the UK. "When people who oppose fascism come together across their differences and back a coalition that is lead by someone who shares the same values, we can't lose!"

If you want to keep it up with your attack on the viability of the Democratic ticket, know that you are suppressing the vote. "Joe Biden is the nominee, and it is time for us, all of us -ALL OF US, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US - who doesn't want donald trump to be the president of the United States AGAIN, to get behind Joe Biden. Full stop. " "If we do that, we will wipe the floor with the GOP in November".

This front page first column headline," 6 TOP DEMOCRATS SAYING PRIVATELY BIDEN SHOULD GO" from today's nytimes prompted this reaction from me which I will share with you. Rather than focus on Biden’s age since they do not think of his accomplishments as worthy of coverage, perhaps they need to remind readers that Donald Trump( fill in your own list of descriptors) is an ever present danger and an existential threat to America as we know it and even if Joe Biden was on a ventilator he would be a better choice than Donald Trump. GOP leaders cannot publicly suggest Trump should step down even though privately they do because.. yes, they made a deal with the devil and there is no turning back. Full stop!

"TOP" Democrats? Nah. These people are going for some media boost to their careers by going after Joe Biden. Bad idea.

Of course, the NYT tapped Carville. I quit watching him much because all he does is criticize Democrats for the past few years.

I am thrilled Project 2025 is getting media attention. We took down The No Label Party and we can use the Project 2025 nightmare to beat trump.

Kevin Roberts made a big mistake with his comment about a second revolution and the "leftists" behaving.

I got emotional by the victory in France. If I did, I know others did as well. Let's hope it provided a much need boost to the Democrats in the United States. The media is waging an abusive and dispiriting campaign against us.

Finally. I believe this in my bones. Americans of all stripes love their Democracy. The MAGA will be wiped off the political map in November.

Of course, the NYT tapped Carville.

⬆️ He keeps showing up in my email box and I keep unsubscribing.

I don't think the pundits get paid (much) for appearances on cable news and I know the NYT doesn't pay for opinion pieces, so he must be seeking relevance like poor, pathetic Lindsey Graham.

I wish former presidential advisors were like former presidents and refrained from commenting on the current administration when it's your own party!

I also can't stand that Ari Melber has Carville on his show regularly!!! I don't watch it, but I hear what he says right after Nicolle Wallace's show!

Let me ask a question I have yet to hear has been asked. I watched Dr. Jill Biden enthusiastically introduce her husband to a crowd of supporters. First, I have to believe that she is intimately knowledgeable about the state of her husband's health. Does anyone doubt her devotion to the president? Does anyone believe that she would be willing to sacrifice him to the rigors of a campaign for president if she was not assured that he was up to the task?

Exactly, Lynell! I saw her cheering him on. He is revered and should not be put out to pasture like these wolves dressed as sheep, want him to be.

The convicted felon from now on should regularly be referred to as ‘donald “I know nothing about Project 2025” trump’. He probably never heard about Schedule F either, the executive order he signed a few weeks before he lost the elections to prepare the replacement of up to 50.000 federal employees with MAGA goons.

While donald “I know nothing about Project 2025” trump obviously lied it is quite shocking that that still seems to be true for the vast majority of American voters. It should have been brought up in the debate – by the President as well as the moderators. It could well have been a ‘Proud Boys, stand up and stand by’ moment.

Kevin Roberts, the head of the Heritage Foundation, bragged a few months ago, that the 900+ page plan of course was just part of their preparations as they wouldn’t want to tip off the Democrats too early about executive orders and other measures. So Project 2025 is just the tip of the iceberg and USS Titanic is steaming ahead. What could go wrong?

The felon lying about Project 2025 shows that he as well as his handlers are getting nervous. They have overplayed their hand or at least have shown their cards too early. This also explains the current ludicrous efforts to walk back or at least water down the project's agenda by producing a GOP 'platform' – something they didn't deem necessary in 2020.

To spread information about Project 2025 here again is a very helpful word-searchable tool which makes it easy to navigate the 900+ pages after having read the foreword which should rather be titled ‘A Threat to America’

Great edition today, Robert. Thanks for the take-down of the press corps' loathsome attack on Katrine Jean-Pierre for honestly answering questions and protecting the privacy of individuals. Your call to get the Debate behind us in light of Biden's stalwart determination to continue must lead us all to rally whole-heartedly behind him. A few important signs:

1). You posted Joy Reid's 2 minute podcast support for Biden. I urge all to look as well at the longer opening of the Reidout last night https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/watch/watch-the-reidout-with-joy-reid-highlights-july-8-214452293531

It is an inspiring look at what she is witnessing, literally, and with all the religious overtones, among Black supporters of Biden.

2) I was deeply struck by the posting on July 6 by one of the Hubbell communitiy members,

Daniel Rathe. I loved it but in a flooded day, it received only two likes. I am resurrecting it here , in part, so others who may have missed will see Daniel's report from the ground.

"I am a working class grunt out there in the real world, and I can tell you what effect I have seen from the "debate" - none, zip, zilch, nada. The convicts supporters, both intentional and unintentional are simply flooding the zone with BS to create hopelessness and dissent. President Biden has and continues to be a successful and effective president and has my unwavering support."

3) Jess Piper also reports from her substack and in comments on Today's Editions that the rural people she talks to in Missouri are not moved by the NYT, the Debate, nor worries about Biden's age.

4) Finally, as we consider the cosmic differences between old Joe Biden and nearly as old and profoundly and cataclysmically more unfit for the job of President Donald Trump, recall that at least 3 times in the Interview with George Stephanopoulos, Joe Biden TOOK RESPONSIBILITY for his performance in the debate with words like "that's on me," "no one's fault. but my own," etc. He didn't blame the lighting or his advisors or even, after acknowledging that he had a cold, his busy schedule or transatalantic flights. When has Donald Trump taken responsibility for anything? His disavowal of knowledge of Project 2025 followed a sentence later by his statement that some parts of the Project he like and some parts he doesn't (without details) is so typical as to make one scream.

Joe Biden. Now. Tomorrow. All the way to the Election. For the good of America and the World. Let's be a part of bending further that arc toward justice.

Expand full comment

I like reading Jess Piper's view in her Substack, especially that the continued chaos around Biden didn't cause a blip in rural voter opinions. Beau of the Fifth Column had also posted the same kind of observation a couple of days after the 'debate' on his YouTube channel.

I agree with almost all of Patrick White’s post. However, from clips that I saw of Katrine Jean-Pierre‘s remarks, I must say they were inadequate. About the visit to the White House, she should have said something like this to the press pack: “There are medical privacy laws, HIPPA, for example. You are demanding that I break those laws, and in full public view. I will not.”

Expand full comment

Addendum: In my opinion, Jean-Pierre’s mien was too accommodatingly defensive. Members of the White House press corps displayed an attitude of entitlement and haughtiness that was utterly inappropriate, therefore verging on disrespectful. I wish Jean-Pierre had stood up to them in a definite, clear way.

I also suspect that she was not fully informed. She needs to conduct her briefings from an information advantage. That she didn’t display a clear advantage reflects poorly on the White House communications operation.

Expand full comment

not bordering on disrespectful. Clearly disrespectful. At best. Karine Jean-Pierre should have been stronger, should have put a stop to it. But that does not excuse those in the press who were rude and disrespectful. Let's start criticizing the bullies, not those they bully.

Expand full comment

From what I know about the exchange I agree with both of you. She should have attacked the questions with more force. I'm not sure crying HIPPA would have silenced the furor though. It seems like they were playing. Gotcha journalism since the start. Thanks for your close reading of what I said.

Your comment apparently fails to distinguish between constructive criticism and destructive criticism. I believe my remarks about Karine Jean-Pierre point toward how (in my opinion) she could become a more effective advocate for the Biden Administration.

I am sure we agree on 99% of anything we would discuss, so I don't want to argue with you. But something to think about: I think constructive criticism is spoken TO the person not ABOUT the person. But I guess we can agree to disagree on that and focus on Donald Trump and his terrible agenda.

Judd Legum of Popular Information, also on Substack, provides a detailed picture of the 31 authors and editors of Project 2025 that have formal connections to the Trump Administration and, interestingly, the overlap between the Heritage Foundation's 2016 similar project where 64% of their recommendations were achieved in Trump's first year as President. This year's list essentially ends democracy except for White, wealthy, Christian men -- a goal shared by both Trump and Chief Justice Roberts.

Thank You for this.

I am weary of the same items from Project 2025 being used by the media. There are much worse things:

Militarizing the DOD against civilians

Injecting military tests in secondary schools

Mass deportations banning Muslims

The Executive Unity item is the terrifying thing. Putting the military and the budget under the President.

I realize it is a hard read. The hatred of the left and the propaganda throughout the document is hard reading.

And the language is sneaky:

"The great challenge confronting a conservative President is the existential need for aggressive use of the vast powers of the executive branch to return power— including power currently held by the executive branch—to the American people."

This is not talking about returning power to the people. It is talking about giving the President extreme power.

It is time to flip the narrative-Trump should be examined We need to get loud about the dangers of Project 2025 and power in Trump’s hands give n the immunity decision. Women will lose the right to reproductive health and it will be open season on the LGBT-Q community.

Biden is old, and has lost a step, but on his very worst days he accomplishes more and does more work than the convicted felon did in his first term of office. Talk about memory problems, think back on Trump’s late morning appearances after watching TV all morning, his frequent absences from work to play golf every day. His inability to read or listen to briefings, etc etc etc. I can feel my blood pressure rising so, so will go back to drinking my coffee and enjoying my garden.

My letter to the Times and every journalist I know there .

Making up news stories like the number of visits neurologists make to the White House, the Times has further disgraced itself with its perverse and unrelenting efforts to force Biden out of office. Like Trump, SCOTUS and The Heritage Foundation, has AG Sulzberger, the King of the Times, found a new version of the Constitution that authorizes the Fourth Estate, specifically The NYTimes, to choose a president?

The Times has become an utter embarrassment to those journalists who built its reputation over many years.

Or to quote a famous line from American toxic, anti-democratic investigations, "Have you no shame"?

I and my family hold dual-citizenship with Canada. Most of us are activists at some level..mostly donations and post cards. In Trumps early presidency, we joked, as did others, that maybe we would just “remove ourselves to Canada”. The current GOP and media has changed that narrative. Over our 4th gathering, there were many views about what Biden should do. To those without a Hubble subscription, the rest of us just kept/keep shareing your current letters, Robert. By Sunday, the fervor was back to support of Biden. We are not going anywhere, nor do we think Biden should! The media barrage of misinformation has truly energized me.
