We must save democracy for the younger folks to have a chance. Like Joe said this election will matter for decades to come.

More is at stake than Kamala Harris becoming president. Joe's historic point is that he worked for us. He served us. That's what a president does in a DEMOCRACY. If you want change you can vote them out like we did in 2020.

If we have a dictator we serve the dictator. Our rights won't matter any more. We will no longer be free. That's why we fought the revolutionary war. Rather than fight another revolutionary war your choice is to vote democratic!

The prosecutor should be chosen over the felon! Period.

In fact, I already ordered this funny "Prosecutor or Criminal 2024" t-shirt 👇 🤣

Yesterday at the grocery store my husband saw a Trumper wearing a t-shirt,had a faux ballot with Biden and Convicted Felon as candidates with of course, the CF being marked.☑️ I’m sure that kind of messaging will sway (NOT!) Independents and undecided voters.

Florida went from ~400 volunteers to over 7000 ! since VP Harris entered the race!💪💙

Amendment 4(reproductive rights) will drive women to the polls in FL !👩🧑🏿👩🏻‍🦰👩🏻‍🦳

When I was in 10th grade, for an assignment to write about a cause we supported (our choice) I wrote about the right to abortion. The French teacher, who was off the boat, was so furious she wouldn't speak to me about it. Eventually, my advisor, a grande dame in the school, spoke with her and had the two of us talk about whatever she was angry about. It turned out she thought I was mocking the assignment. When she realized I was serious, everything instantly became fine between us.

I hope everyone is as IMPRESSED as I am with the transition from VP to Presidential candidate the Biden/Harris Team has accomplished!

There was no chaos and panic.

A smooth handoff of the baton.

A paved runway for takeoff as this plane starts to soar.

Forward vision rather than backward regression and further division.

This has to be a grassroots-up movement.

There are more of "us" than there are of "them."

The supersonic, rapid response with people contacting family, friends, neighbors and more is frankly astounding and gratifying!

NOW we must do our part to educate ourselves and the public on the nefarious plans already being actively put into place to execute Project 2025 and Agenda 47 ON DAY ONE.

If you VALUE ANY personal FREEDOM,

you MUST act NOW.

November 6, 2024 will be too late.

Also, there is a prescient warning from one of my favorite Guardian Journalists, Carole Cadwalladr. She has a very important heads-up for us, so I am sharing the link to her latest opinion piece: “This is a Misogyny Emergency. A huge outpouring is coming in the run up to the US election”. https://apple.news/Ac0JlJrVzQ9GhMWAVeIO21A

I'm going to take a little different tack. While I agree that we should anticipate misogyny and racial attacks, I don't believe we should invite them by giving them too much credence. I'd prefer to focus on VP Harris being the most qualified, capable, and ready candidate to lead our nation. We should bridge between existing silos and avoid building more. We will have plenty of time to celebrate the "firsts" afterwards.

I think you are correct. Let’s put identity politics aside and focus on the fact that we have a highly qualified, capable, competent, and forward looking candidate in Kamala Harris.

When Trump told people yesterday that they won’t have to vote in four years, he also told his followers at a Christian gathering, “I’m not Christian.” Watch his body language when he says it in the YouTube video. It’s clear that’s what he means.

This is the infamous video of Friday night, July 26, where Trump addresses The Believer's Summit hosted by Turning Point Action in Palm Springs, Florida where he tells people they won't have to vote in four years because it'll all be fixed. That made the headlines. BUT HE'S TELLING CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS DIRECTLY THAT HE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN. That deserves its own headline. Here's a transcript of the video clip. Look at the end of the second paragraph. Also look at his body language when he says it.

“To save America, get your friends, get your family, get everyone you know and vote. Vote early, vote absentee, vote on election day. I don’t care how but you have to get out and vote.

And again, Christians, get out and vote! Just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore, you know, four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore my beautiful Christians. I love you Christians. I’m not Christian.

I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years you won’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote.”

"We'll have IT fixed." What is your referent? I've asked people for many years when the word IT its used so loosely , as donOLD did here. So clearly, this insane notion of ending the voting process appeals greatly to low functioning people. These are the people President Eisenhower referred to as ones happy to have an autocrat "fix" all their problems for them. Selling this bag of crap comes straight from Putin, as he knows full well millions of Americans are just too darn busy pursuing, or having fun, fun, fun, to be bothered with voting. Remember how W Bush referred to him as Pootey Poo? Ours is a fight to the finish to bury Putin deep in to the sands of time.

I firmly believe he received marching orders directly from the kremlin to say this, and to do so in a joyful manner. Earlier today, at least 14 Israeli kids and teenagers were murdered, and at least 34 wounded, 17 critically, when a Hezbollah rocket struck next to a soccer field in the Druze village of Majdal Shams in northern Israel. Surely we can hold in our hearts the excitement and joy over what is happening here at home with the sadness and grief over what is continuing to happen in Israel. These are not soldiers that were hurt. They are children. Not used as human shields as is so often the case in Gaza. Where is the outrage? Probably in the same place as the “outrage” over the rape and mutillation of women and girls on October 7. I am truly saddened at the lack of support and empathy.

Expand full comment

We are not keeping score on outrage points. All terrorism against humanity is an outrage, and must stop, right now, on all sides. The killing of innocent people must stop now regardless of whether they are at a concert, playing sports, or being used as human shields. Stop the war now.

Expand full comment

Terrorists have no place in society. They strike whenever it looks like someone is having fun. Everyone in their right minds find such acts despicable and outrageous. Terror and violence solve nothing. They create only misery, division, violence, hate and fear. Whether it is innocents in Israel or Gaza or anywhere else in the world, terrorism and the grief and destruction left in its wake must be mourned and deplored. Terrorists are the ultimate “deplorables.”

I an sickened by the acts of Netanyahu and his regime. The fact that the R’s invited him to speak to Congress is an abomination! Dems did not attend but Talib did and she rightfully held a sign condemning him for killing Palestinians. You know what is horrid to me? Is that there are Jews, like Stefanik, who think this violence is okay. Before my dad came to this country from escaping Poland in the 1930’s, he was a young Zionist who really wanted to go to Israel. He might’ve been one of the ultra Orthodox in those illegal settlements on the West Bank. Thank goodness he married ny mother, also a Holocaust victim from Germany, who he met after he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater.

If anyone knows the context and complexity of this , it is you. As it was my mother in law also a holocaust survivor. Condemning Israeli politics and politicians is not the same as condemning Israel. We all have our feelings about the current government. And about the Palestinian’s who danced in the streets both in Gaza and here when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th. There is much anger, much to be afraid of and too many people dying on all sides. I don’t have the answers but i do have the empathy.

What’s in a name? Everything. I was listening to the “You’re Wrong About” podcast and the guest (Mackenzie Joy Brennan) used a term I think the Harris campaign needs to use to rebrand the MAGA Conservatives. She call it Regressive rather than Conservative. With Kamala’s “we won’t go back line”, rebranding MAGA as Regressives, works perfectly. It also allows for Dems to allow space for more conservative independents. We need to call them what they are and help voters identify themselves as something other than old school conservative. This was the first time I ever heard the word used in this context and it made so much sense. It makes even more sense when tied to the campaign theme.

Expand full comment

Regressives is a great description, exactly the philosophy difference over taxation, but maybe too subtle? You need an attention span and actual interest to look into the use of the word to get to the difference in Taxation types: progressive vs. regressive.

Being an armchair psychologist, I am often wondering these days who is running the show at CNN?

Reason being, the network has too much coverage of Trump and very often Jake Tapper seems bored by the amazing embrace of Kamala Harris. I know the network wishes to convey a neutral image of reportage, but the delicate balance between what can destroy our democracy and who can save it should not be given equal time. Trump's bizarre rants against his opponent should have far less spotlighting. It's too ugy to watch and I for one wish for more coverage of Harris's adgenda .

While I appreciate the "Likes", my email gets over loaded, so please leave a comment if you'd like as those are the ones I give notice to. Many thanks and please suggest a better news channel for Democrats.
