Thanks for posting this heartbreaking article, John. The Democratic leadership in Congress needs to wake up and realize that mindless support for Israel, in spite of these horrific, on-going human rights violations, is no longer a winning electoral strategy. Otherwise, we're going to continue to lose voters who are understandably bitter over Biden/Harris support for the genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile, the Iran war--which Netanyahu egged Trump into--is reminding voters of the folly of blind allegiance to Israel. So does this tragic news from the West Bank.
every week I look forward to your photos. The stellar ones, and the boots on the ground ones! I am grateful for your calm voice, your explanations which are clear and helpful, and the focus toward protecting our democracy and defending Constitutional checks and balances. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
What if this is all just a rouse, Trump in total, to distract us from what is happening in the AI monitoring arena? Hardly ever a mention of what seems to be going on there.
I still don't understand why our military leaders took us into an illegal war. Whatever happened to the "you don't have to obey illegal orders" video from ex-military Senators? How will we ever regain trust and respect for our armed forces? Is this really about fear of losing their pensions?
It is always so lovely to read the thoughtful comments. Plus be energized with Robert’s ongoing protest photos. Bonus today, his return to the world beyond our daily lives on this planet. It is a good community, thank you on this Sunday afternoon everyone.
Just got my Today’s Edition fix looking at the photos, reading lots of the signs and reading the blurbs the senders wrote. Beautiful patriots everywhere, you make my spirit soar! Love being able to read the signs. For fun decided to count the number of photos. Seriously, 92 pics. Thank you all!
Watching your video yesterday was inspiring, thank you! Doing more is a challenge some days ,but I’m hoping to invest more energy into activating friends who openly share their concerns but do nothing. I paraphrase Jess cravens in saying , “It matters less what you think about than what you do about it”,
Does this experience, while more than a one off death of Alex Pretti or Renae Good, remind us of the disgraceful ICE?
Excerpt from The Guardian, link follows.
“The attack on the Bani Odeh family brought the number of Palestinians killed to 11. Two brothers survived the shooting. Khaled, 11, the oldest of the siblings, said he had heard his mother crying and his father praying before they died.
After the gunfire stopped, Israeli border police dragged him out of the wreckage, taunted him about the murders of his family and attacked him. One of the Israelis said “we killed dogs”, he told Reuters.
The family had been in the nearby city of Nablus to buy clothes for the upcoming Eid festival, which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Families often stay up late in a month when adults fast during daylight hours.
“What did this family do? They went to buy Eid necessities, and to put a smile on those children’s faces,” said Mansour Abu Islam, a neighbour and cousin of Ali. “This is clear evidence that Palestinian lives have no value.”
The gunmen were an undercover unit who were not in uniform and were driving a car with Palestinian license plates, Abu Islam said.
Israeli forces opened fire without warning, Khaled said in an interview from hospital. After the shooting an Israeli asked him who had been in the car. “I said: ‘My father, my mother, my three brothers, and me’. He said: ‘You are lying,’ and then they started beating and kicking me.”

John, To be honest, I had only glanced at the article you posted when I wrote my reply. It was something I've meant to bring up on the blog for some time. Reading the article carefully now...it is just heartbreaking. Yet another astoundingly tragic story from Gaza and the West Bank. Thank you again for posting it. We must keep registering our anger over what Israel has done.
I was so glad to see that you were able to find time to take that beautiful picture of the Rosette Nebula, Robert. I’ve missed your Daily Dose of Perspective, partly because the pictures are so awe-inspiring, and partly because I think it means you are devoting almost every moment of your life to keeping all of your readers informed with the things we most need to know about. I send you gratitude and love every day.
To avoid drowning my generally happy retired life....I have ceased to watch any TV news broadcast, and even PBS is too light , playing the bothsiderism game. I restrict my news feed to SUBSTACK only. Trump's erratic behavior, abandonment of Ukraine, and doubling down on bad decisions is leading the USA into a big disaster.
Let there be no doubt that the military told him why previous presidents never bombed or invaded Iran. What has happened was entirely foreseeable. When he says no peace until he gets the right terms, don't be fooled. He has no leverage; this is not Venezuela. With the exception of Iran's tankers, the Strait of Hormuz is closed because the ships that go through it aren't insured. They won't get insurance until the threat from Iran goes away to the satisfaction of marine underwriters. That means Iran gets the terms it wants. Iran is in no hurry because its leverage gets better by the day. TACO has given Iran a gift that no other president was willing to give: leverage.
Robert, I love all the protest pictures you post, as well as your thoughts on the Iranian war, epstein files, etc. I realize there is too much out there to cover everything. However, after watching a short program on women's rights, I'd like to hear something on the heritage foundation's wanting to dramatically change women's rights here in the US, essentially stripping them of all gains they've made here. the 2025 plan discusses this, yet we hear little about it except around women's reproductive rights which have already been stripped. thank you.
For those who missed it, here's a Guardian article that was posted Sunday morning.

Are you getting more photos or are there more protests or both? Heart warming indeed.

Same. Surely miss Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff.
