Well, as Robert says, it may be too little too late, but it is outstanding. It's an ideal piece to send to a wavering voter. And stands in 100% opposition to the Washington Post.

Here's mine. I still have my cheap NYT subscription, but don't read stuff with misrepresentative headlines. So I'm protesting by giving away my gifts, even if somebody else beat me to it (silly, I know, but that's my rationalization).

I understand that Planned Parenthood clinics offer vasectomies. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Today I canceled my subscription to the Washington Post. Like many of your readers, I am horrified by Jeff Bezos' unwillingness to endorse Kamala Harris for president. The Washington Post has made quite clear the depravity of Donald Trump, and for there to not be a presidential endorsement, suddenly, this election, leads me to believe that the owner of the newspaper has made a calculated decision to protect his future position as an oligarch under a regime, should Trump win. I want to wash my hands of this immoral behavior on the part of Jeff Bezos and would be ashamed, going forward, to have a subscription to the Washington Post. What sad times!

When I learned about the game Bezos was playing with drumpf + the Washington Post, I immediately thought of Pascal's Wager: “Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is. Let us estimate these two chances. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation that He is

Yes, there are many ways to rationalize the "convenience" of having what you need over night. But we also need to add the damage done to main street America and local retail business into the equation. Weighing our own personal convenience against enriching someone who is already too wealthy and immoral is a tough choice. Something to think about

So I don’t know about anyone else but I’m rethinking having cancelled both my NYT and WaPo subscriptions because I’m thinking it doesn’t do anything to make the people we want to pay attention actually pay attention. Are we just hurting the multitude of honorable journalists who are actually trying to bring the truth?

I've heard it said, "Money is speech" :) Journalists of conscience might chose to resign or look for work elsewhere. The LAT editorial chief resigned. People make choices. You can subscribe to a news source with different ethics and that can help that source and their staff to thrive!

ok, i admit it. I have given five or ten bucks to Democratic candidates on occasion. i guess that makes me a target for the orange goon squad.

Going deep into the slime pit is part of the turnout strategy. And I think we know who. We have to hope they don't show up.

When it starts as a serious insulting, distasteful and dangerous remark they call it a joke; when it starts as an insulting, distasteful, and dangerous joke they say they renounce it, they never knew this guy, and they love the target of the joke. It all boils down to mendacity, hypocrisy, and wanting to remain a parasite in power.

Shady Vance is saying that although he "didn't see the joke" he's sure it's all just a big over-reaction. No condemnation, no distancing. Just "why make a big deal about it"? I wonder if the remark were made about his wife's home country would he be so nonchalant and dismissive. These people have no conscience, no soul. Will enjoy seeing them go down in flames.

I'm guessing it was Pod Save America. So annoying. And Jeff Bezos is a f*cking coward. He's a billionaire and has f*ck you money. What's the point of having it, if you cower in the face of fascists.

HarveyCan 58's avatar

Good points! But I guess he has something to lose, too.

I am curious as to how many readers are bold/brave enough to stop buying from Amazon or cancel their Prime membership -- as did those who canceled, WSJ, NYT and LAT subscriptions. Support local business. Cut the Amazon cord

HarveyCan 58's avatar

A bold suggestion... Amazon has become such a powerful convenience: a place to find books/music/movies/size 4E shoes/medicines etc. and have them on the porch in a day.... Instead of driving all over town on gas that costs $5.00 a gallon. That's a tough one. I'd have to get strategic about all that and lose several hundred movies I bought on Prime... But it's a choice/option for sure. Bezos is not looking very admirable right now.
