Robert, I can't believe we're only a day and a few hours away from Nov. 5! I am so grateful to you and to your manager, Jill, and to this amazing community you have gathered here. If anyone had told me that at age 79 I would be reborn as a grassroots activist, and that I would have found a new character inside myself, Granny Annie, to speak my mind and heart on video, I would have thought they were crazy! But wondrous miracles happen in communities of like-minded folks, and I know we're going to see some miracles in the next few days....weeks...months. Like those exquisite photos of yours of parts of the Universe I would never see otherwise. Much love & blessings, Chaplain Terry 💕 🙏🏼 💕
YOU ARE BRILLIANT!!! I just watched your song on You Tube, and beyond impressed!! This should be (should have been) played on Steven Colbert's show (among many others). You would have gotten a standing ovation! Meanwhile, I sit here giving you. (Wait, can I give you a standing ovation while I sit? Oh what the heck. You get my drift.) xxxx
Oh my! Thank you so much!! I feel the spirit of your standing ovation no matter what position you are in! I think I'm going to go over and post again on X!!
Love everything about these Notes from the field, especially the story about Jessica "converting" a voter. I can well believe that she is a star canvasser just like she is a star phonebanker. I was so excited to see Jill wearing one of the colorful buttons that my new friend and fellow activist Jeanne Heifetz designed and produced from a postcard design by Mark Wethli. Jeanne donated 12,000 of these buttons to the campaign. She visited our Markers For Democracy/Downtown Nasty Women Social Group/Team Min Zoom a few weeks ago, and one of our members who runs canvasses out of her garage in Wisconsin received a box of the buttons to distribute to volunteers. For folks who want to phonebank or textbank tomorrow and Tuesday, I've been updating our list and adding some great candidate-specific phonebanks and textbanks. Let's run through the tape together.
Here in Germany Americans Abroad are phone banking too. It is not just to help Democrats Abroad to vote, whose ballots have not been received and helping them with alternatives depending which state they vote in, but also many are phone banking in the US, taking lists, and using a US number which people are buying for this election, and a VPN people are calling in Swing states, and getting a lot of positive responses.
I am sitting here right now, in my Vote from Abroad Sweatshirt and Harris/Walz t-shirt reading about what everyone is doing. A friend of mine is paralyzed with fear of impending violence, so her husband is phone banking all he can.
Thank you for the links you provided in Robert's comments weeks ago, which provided help for voters abroad. I sent them to my niece in Germany, who thanked me and she said she needed the information.
Ellen, this list is awesome! What a lot of work - and how encouraging and energizing to see how many grassroots groups there are working in/on the field!! I am so grateful to have found Markers and to have a "home group community" now and forever! Thank you!
I feel the same way about my Swing Left West Valley co-members:: postcard writers, canvassers and phone bankers under the leadership of Elise Libnick and Sienna Guzman. We are tired but feel we did our best to elect down-ballot candidates around the country, especially in CA-27, North Carolina and Georgia! God bless us all, and Kamala Harris for lighting the torch so brightly, for her joyful smile, and for her determination to use every second of every day to stop Trump! And to all the Democratic candidates out there still campaigning today, I am hopeful because of all of you!
We need to make sure West Coast voters don't decide to not go vote Tuesday evening because they hear Trump claiming he won. Trump will claim he won early Tuesday night, likely before West Coast polls close.
How can we get out the word to not repeat 1980?
Trump will claim he won early Tuesday night, likely before West Coast polls close.
1980: Jimmy Carter conceded at about 5 pm PST. Too many Democrats who had planned to vote after 5 PM decided to not bother and stayed home. Republicans did go to the polls, excited to vote for the winner. Democratic House members lost tight races because of knowing Carter had lost: including Al Ullman Ways & Means Chair from Oregon.
We need to protect West Coast races in the House and the Senate by making sure that voters ignore Trumps claims of winning and go vote up and down their ballot. . And not lose winning the House and Senate because of false claims of winning before the real results are in, convinces some voters to cancel their plans to vote.
I always thought a news black out would be appropriate. 😈 Simply don't start reporting results until ALL the polls have closed; yes, looking at AK and HI, too.
The news sources won't report on returns until after the CA polls have closed, as they haven't since 1980. Let's not borrow trouble. Anyone who listens to what Trump claims wouldn't have voted for him anyhow, so his claiming victory early will only hurt him.
Thank you for all you have give your readers AND for your continuing to “walk the talk.” What greater leadership you have provided throughout these past nine years. You have made a huge difference for your readers, their communities and the nation. You voice has resonated with all who read Today’s Edition!
The Women’s March in DC yesterday was full of high spirits and stories of activism. Among the 10,000 people there were many young women but most of the people the Washington Post reporter chose to interview were in their 60s and 70s who were introducing their daughters and granddaughters to protesting. The signs were very creative and heart felt.
I think what the polls are missing is all of the secret votes people will be making without having to admit they voted against tRump. They certainly won’t say so in an exit poll.
Because of the surprising Selzer polling in Iowa, Field Team 6 (Register Democrats Save the World) decided to buy data for nearly 400,000 eligible likely Dem/Independent women there (and also Michigan and Wisconsin, which might be breaking the same way). We'll be reaching out to them tomorrow. However, it wasn't in the budget, so donations are most welcome! https://www.fieldteam6.org/fund-the-mission. Thanks!
Thanks for this. As a Hawkeye Ph.D. with 13 years in Iowa living and teaching in Iowa, I was exhilarated to hear the Des Moines Regiser this morning that Kamala Harris was leading in the race in Iowa and for giving me a path to help. Donated. I've done a small bit of the easy part. You all are doing do much. We will support you in every way we can.
Your giving financially relieves some of the anxiety I feel in being limited in the amounts I can give financially. So thank you. You are doing your part and I am doing my best to do my part. Thank you, Patrick E. White!
Geez, Robert, you're throwing off my timing completely :) What am I going to read at 3 am now?
I thought the size, enthusiasm and diversity across numerous metrics of the crowd at tonight's gathering was pretty special. The positive energy seems so powerful in comparison to the endless negativity coming from Trump and his supporters. When we fight, we win.
It was nice--as just about the last thing I do tonite--to see that wonderful photo of the lot of you, looking so happy, and to read your happy account, Robert, which explains the broad smiles!
And I loved the photo of the Andromeda--what a gorgeous galaxy!--and somehow appropriate to go with your accomplishments of this day.
Robert - once again thanks for the work you and all the readers of this newsletter are doing! It has to be boosting the remarkable campaign that Kamala and Tim are running. It has to be personally rewarding as well, to know you'll have the correct answer when - to borrow a great line from Tim - you'll be able to answer "What did you do to save Democracy" and to answer "Everything I could"!
Robert, Thanks to your inspiring reporting and your tireless good-sense approach to this very scary election, I’ve managed to keep the faith and hunker down to do my part to get out the vote. Can’t thank you enough for your advocacy!
I am also buoyed by tales of people encountering first time voters who very enthusiastically voted for Kamala. By voting they feel like they are being the change they want to see in the world.
I don’t know what I would have done these past 9?? years without the wise, calming and hopeful voice that you (with the help of your managing editor) share wirh all of us. I can’t thank you enough. I will be following you and looking forward to every word. Thank you both so much!

Terry, and you were “reborn” as a DemFamous actor with your Oscar-worthy performance in the One Dem Minute Film Festival ! 🌴🍹👒
Is there a link to that? If so, I missed it.

Thanks Kathy! That's very kind of you!
Love your video, Chaplain Terry!
Thank you, Nancy! More will be coming as I find my way through my "third act," to quote Jane Fonda!!
Seconded!💚
Thank you Nancy!
Thanks for asking, Jocely! I had some left-over Catholic girl "modesty" and didn't put the link in my original comment. No more!!
Thanks to Kathy below!
Yesss!! Go Terry! "Modesty" is not what we need when our democracy is on the line! ((( )))
Agreed!!!

CC so glad to be of help to your niece. Viva la Kamala!
I like that! "Viva la Kamala!"
This is an amazing resource, Ellen. What ever happens Tuesday, I look forward to continuing to work with all of you!
Thanks! We are all in this together.

You, Jill and Jessica are blessings to the world. America is the Beacon on the Hill.
Thank you, thank you, thank you ~

Donated. Leaving nothing on the table. We cannot go back!
Not too late to send check?
Trump underperformed in 19 of 20 state primaries. If only 3% of his 2020 voters flip in blue wall and swing states, we will have a tsunami.
That's why you should be on FB repeating "not suckers or losers" as your mantra.

Not too late. We’ll be back at it soon!
Done!!
Robert you, Jill and Jessica have been tireless as you have been committed. Thank you!

Love these updates from you, Robert, and especially from Every Day With Jill. Her videos are enormously entertaining and informative!
And, that's some galaxy you got there, Robert...thanks for sharing!
