I am sending this brief newsletter to open the Comments section to all readers (paying and free). Regardless of whether you choose to contribute to the conversation today, I recommend that you peruse the comments. The discourse in the Comments section is informed, passionate, and inspiring. Many readers have expertise in politics, law, foreign affairs, journalism, education, military, government, and activism. I frequently find inspiration from the comments. I think you will, too.
To those of you who choose to contribute to the comments, thank you! There are dozens of important stories I did not cover this week and I rely on readers to fill in the gaps. Please feel free to discuss stories I did not mention—and more! Where appropriate, include links to sources. And, as always, be respectful and enhance readability by using paragraph breaks liberally. “Like” worthy comments to promote them to the top of the feed.
Topics that deserve discussion this week that I did not cover include Puerto Rico, Iran, Russian annexation referendums, UK change in government, Arizona abortion ruling, GOP 2022 platform released by Kevin McCarthy, GOP vote against dark money PAC legislation, Ginni Thomas, Electoral Count Act reform,
As we move closer to Election Day, I am receiving lots of requests to promote events and organizations. . . . and lots of emails from other readers that say, “How can I get involved?” I invite readers to use the Comments section to promote their causes to readers who are looking to get involved.
I will move emails seeking volunteers and promoting events to the top of the feed. A few suggestions to those of you seeking volunteers and support: Don’t bury the lead: say the most important thing first. Be specific in asking for help. Make it easy for readers to volunteer by including links.
It has been quite a week. It feels like we are turning a corner. We have a long way to go and will never be able to relent. But even modest progress feels good!
Enjoy your weekend! Talk to you on Monday!
