I love your first line: " Donald Trump is an idiot. He is many other things, but he is self-evidently an idiot of epic proportions."

I think PTV volunteers will write postcards for Kentucky Gov. Beshear in the fall. We wrote over 250K for him in his first election.

This is the last weekend to write postcards for Ohio! Help wanted! Even 5 postcards could help. Every postcard could be a vote. Fetterman won his first mayoral election by one vote! To help, text “join” to Abby the text bot at 484-275-2229 or email join@TonytheDemocrat.org. If you already joined, just text Abby the Bot. All you need are some postcards and stamps.

Ohio's Aug. 8th ISSUE 1 outcome and the elections in VA this fall are bellwethers for 2024. So let's cream them!!!

‘ What come around, goes around!’ Mitch stonewalled Garland’s nomination to a seat on the court, then did a 180 and held a vote for the handmaiden weeks before the election! Thurgood Marshall replaced by the incompetent and ethically challenged grifter Clarence Thomas. RBG replaced by the hand maiden! Payback Mitch replaced by a Democrat! One can only hope!

Like Strom Thurmond from the days of old, it appears regular sessions of taxidermy have kept Mitch standing!

I’ve got fifty postcards ready to send out as soon as I find a printer in town to print out addresses. Let’s get our country back from the MAGA maggots.

Can you write the addresses on the cards? If they are for Ohio they need to go out ASAP

I like printing them too but when I can't, I open it on my computer and then cut and paste it into another email so I can scroll down and turn them blue as I complete them. So I just write them off the computer. Great about 50!! Awesome!! I hope it's a HUGE win!! So it'll send a BIG BIG BIG message!! Thank you for those 50!!

My next favorite line was "But it gets worse." It reminded me of 3 AM commercials for ginsu knives. "But wait; there's more!"

Do you think it's finally serious enough that at least some additional Republicans and Independents would see this as a move too far? Or is trying to cover up a white collar crime still too "elitist" to care about in a presidential candidate?

Robert, please do not beat around the bush. If you really think TFG is an idiot, you should just come out and say it...like 12 more times. 😉

Mary Trump has an Uncle Don

whose life has been one giant con.

Now lawmen are breathing down his neck

so he's ranting and raving to stack the deck.

His Republicans stand like piles of rocks

while their mob boss inflames his irrational flocks.

But the lawsuits lined up with the con in their sight

are ready for takeoff and gaining in might.

So despite huge attempts to become our first king

odds are Donnie will land in a gray prison wing.

The absurdity and insanity of the situation is remarkable and frustrating. Arrest the idiot, already! The damage to the Republic deepens with every passing day while the Orange Menace is still at large. And arrest all the GOP sycophants in his orbit so we can get on with the task of restoring the government of the United States of America to sanity. And all the dolts who send Trump money should also be arrested and prosecuted for aiding and abetting a criminal enterprise as well as the GOP's blatant attempt to overthrow the Constitution. There's a plethora of evidence supporting that charge. Indeed, arrest the entire MAGA caucus, all 144 of the miscreants that are still sitting members of congress. They are traitors. Is the Rule of Law for real or not? As the immortal rock band The Chambers Brothers crooned, "The Time has come today!"

I think there is a good case for any criminal defendant who has TWICE tried to destroy evidence to be placed in jail pending trial. Trump should be, too.

Absurd as well is that Trump's tax returns have remained unpublished. Or did I somehow overlook the them in the news? I am surprised at how his college experience have remained covered.

Back in June when the MAGAts censured Adam Smith, Quiverin' Qevin tried to make the Democrats stop shouting "Shame!" Swallwell told him he was a "weak man" who couldn't do anything and then McCarthy came back with a smart remark and Swallwell told him not only was he weak, he was a "pussy." McCarthy got heated and said if Swallwell said it again he'd make him sorry, so Swallwell got close and said "You. Are. A. Pussy." It looked like they were going to duke it out for a minute or so till other MAGAts got Quiverin' Qevin calmed down.

Trump is like a poker player who’s holding a pair of deuces and has decided to bluff, rather than fold. The odds are that it’s a losing tactic … but one never knows.

Trump hopes this poker game will be influenced by ghe onlookers.

Trump's crimes will only hurt him politically if Republicans actually learn the facts about his crimes. Millions of voters get their information from FOX and other GOP propaganda purveyors and may never learn the true facts about Trump's crimes. They also are unlikely to learn the facts about the strength of the US economy, or the many positive accomplishments of the Biden administration.

Independents will determine the election. If we persuade 4% of them, we win. That's why Trump's idiocy matters.

Expand full comment

That's it in a nutshell!

I'd bet good money that, if a nationwide cohort of 10,000 Independents had been periodically polled over the last three years, it would be clear Trump has been losing 1 to 2% of their support per year. If that's true, in another year, 4 to 8% of that very large group will vote against Trump, not for him as in 2020.

May it be so!

Millions of Trumpers are too far down the rabbit hole to change their minds; even if they did, they'd still vote for another GQP (Rick Scott? Christie? DeSantis?). The fire hose of propaganda is a huge problem.

Most of those reading this comment will be old enough to remember the Book of the Month Club and the other subscriptions that it spawned (Fruit of the Month Club, Wine of the Month Club, Cheese of the Month Club, Wine and Cheese of the Month Club). Trump is a charter subscriber to a new and—naturally, very exclusive—club: the Indictment of the. Month Club. Do nothing and the US Marshall or state police will deliver it to your door.

wanted to post this yesterday but it seemed a bit far afield, but today Robert is talking about all the negatives from the Republicans and that it’s time to point to it! Point the republicans negative outcomes to one and all-but still there are dems that go straight to Biden’s age, Kamala, Biden not performing some miracle or another (Hasn’t he been doing back flips and spitting out wooden nickels – um… my answer is “yes, pretty much”):

One minute we are talking about how Biden does a pretty good job considering the bizarre state of Congress… but … people don’t want to vote for him cause he hasn’t done quite enough. Or he is too old. Or X, Y, or Z. Biden has accomplished much, he has calmed so many seas, and still people whom acknowledge his success are hesitating to vote for him – what do people expect, perfection? That would be a big ask.

It is not much different that saying “…hey, the vaccines for Covid have done a pretty good job at keeping people from dying but people are still getting Covid so I’m not getting another vaccine”.

I’ve started telling folks I’m not getting another vaccine and they go nuts: “…but it can keep you from dying why wouldn’t you take it!”. I then say: ya I’m takin the new vax, just want you to understand that people not voting for Biden as our president because he’s not performing enough is not much different than refusing to taking the vaccine cause it’s not a perfect outcome and yet it will keep you alive.

Biden seems our only option to a dying democracy.

OH! Robert Hubbell, or whomever has the bandwidth to ponder my question:

Many folks that I have spoken with say they agree Biden should be re-elected, BUT they don’t like Kamala Harris. I don’t care to list their reasons but the idea is that she is not capable of pulling together and running an administration.

My thoughts/questions are: If something should happen to Biden and Harris becomes President – what’s the deal here – would she keep things the way they are? She wouldn’t create a whole new administration, would/could she?

I have no idea how to address this question when it comes up!

Understandable worries, but no need to ponder now. Biden will be the next president. let's stick with that.

From Denialad: donbialostosky.substack.com

It wasn’t the indictment we expected,

But Jack Smith’s Thursday indictment perfected

His Mar-a-Lago case. It superseded

The first Trump case with more bad stuff that he did.

They’ve got the goods that firm up his intent

To hide where all his precious boxes went.

They’ve got the secret doc he waved around

At Bedminster; apparently they found

It in the boxes he gave the Archives.

New evidence reveals how he connives

With Nauta and another former valet

In a desperate failed attempt to allay

His fears of what the FBI might see

On Mar-a-Lago cam security.

Trump hurried Nauta on a secret mission

To get the Mar-a-Lago cam technician

To delete tapes that showed him moving boxes.

And when you think there’s nothing left that shocks us,

Their clandestine attempt to hide their tracks

At once appalls us as it also cracks

Us up. Smith’s narrative provides details—

These guys will have to flip or go to jail!

Right after Trump heard that the DOJ

Wanted the tapes, Nauta was on his way.

He sent a message with emoji “shushing,”

And pretended that he was really rushing

To Florida to see his family.

He and his co-valet hurried to see,

Through tunnels using flashlight in the gloom,

Surveillance cameras in the storage room.

First thing Monday, one pulled a tech aside

And, trying their conversation to hide,

Took him to a tiny “audio closet”

Where he went on, off the record, to posit

“That ‘the boss’ wanted the server deleted.”

When the tech demurred, he just repeated

“That ‘the boss’ wanted the server deleted,”

And asked, as if they both were going to rue

His resistance, “What are we going to do?”

De Oliveira, the other valet

Who’d had this talk, called up Nauta that day,

And, passing through the bushes of a hedge

On The Mar-a-Lago Club’s “northern edge,”

Met “Nauta on the adjacent property,”

Then went back to the office of the IT,

Then retraced his steps back through the bushes

To report to Nauta—looks like his pushes

Had failed again.

The Feds got all the tapes,

So these loyal valets cannot escape

The evidence that contradicts their lies.

Now the indictment names both of these guys,

And the tape they weren’t able to hide

Traces their steps, while the honest IT

Appears to have given testimony.

Their text exchanges complete Jack Smith’s case

And give their hapless tale its coup de grace.

It’s hard to say which cover-up is dumber—

Trump’s valet caper or Dick Nixon’s plumbers!

"I wonder how Trump’s donors feel about their money being used for such nefarious purposes." Apparently they're OK with it because they keep sending this "billionaire" money. Grand Jury proceedings are pretty esoteric for people whose contact with the legal system is limited to traffic tickets; once the idiot is in court on a daily basis and the full charges with all the evidence become public information, they may learn.

Expand full comment

I agree with Dave Conant: apparently Trump’s donors are okay with his use of their contributions.

Why? Because their overwhelming objective apparently is, simply, to insure the election of their guy (Trump).

They may learn. Or they may just keep on defending this guy. If they do learn, however, they could turn really ugly. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of their rage.
