HOPE the news media does the right thing in Chicago on Tuesday?? Please, stop with the HOPE anything proper or good will come out of them, we know better. That's just as sad as "assuming" the SCOTUS will do the right thing and NOT give the rapist felon immunity. All our trusted lawyers said for months, naaaw, it could never happen, ALL of them !!! And the traitors did it. So I'm done thinking any group will do the right thing.

PS I don't think Trump is accurately characterized as a vassal of the robber barons/oligarchs. He is one of them. And he holds great power over them. Especially since he is a one-term president. Does not need their support for another election. His relationship with his oligarchs is more akin to Putin's relationship to the Russian oligarchs. Trump controls them, the executive branch, the legislature, and in many respects the judiciary. That's no vassal. He is a dictator.
So are the oligarchs and the deep state really the same thing, and they let Trump in the group because he’s controllable ? I’m so confused about who or what is really in charge of the world, and does it matter.

I am signed up with Postcards to Swing States to start writing postcards to Wisconsin for the April 1 election. They send postcards, addresses and a script. You provide the stamps. It allows me to feel like I’m doing my part in being part of the resistance. IMO we need to go forward and protect our Democracy and freedom. Together we have the best chance of doing that.
I had a flashback of a movie awards ceremony back in the early nineties. I think it was Kevin Costner who had a friend who went to Iraq. When he went up to receive the award, while the room was in a festive move, he messaged his friend to "hunker down, and come back safe." Ever since hearing that message, when times are tough, I hunker down, do what needs doing, and come back safe.

So maybe now is the time to start fighting back at the local level across the country and, at the end, respond to the 2030 census, after Trump has left the table, with a string of victories to bring our country back to an even keel.

As I said on HCR's post today, the weather is cooperating by providing the "cold day in hell" on which the attempted destruction of our country and our democracy begins. I say "attempted" because despite what will be happening in these next 4 years and beyond, there is still hope that We the People can mitigate or prevent the implementation of some of the MAGAts' and tFfg's plans.
I haven't yet completely lost hope for our future. We're in this together, as Joyce says. Thank you, Robert, for being here with us, along with Jess Craven and all the others who inspire us. I'm tired or I would've listed others also.
Agreed that standing together is vital for countering the harms of the incoming administration. Also, let us acknowledge that much of our current system has indeed become dysfunctional for expressing the values of equality before the law, freedom of speech and the press, and so much more.
In this context let us envision systemic changes that will create a better future, which may even tap into the sentiments of those currently enraptured with MAGA. In chaos there is emergence!
That is exactly what this whole fiasco is meant to cause. Everyone gives up and the dictator takes over. This isn't the first time this has happened in our history and it won't be the last. We are still here after our ancestors fought to keep this Republic/Democracy and our grand-kids will enjoy the results of our efforts. It won't be quick. It could take a decade or more to recover. But we will recover just like every other country worldwide that has slid into an autocracy or worse and then overthrown that Gov to regain their independence! Here's YOUR first act of resistance. Turn your TV on, for at least the duration of the Inauguration, to any channel EXCEPT the ones showing the ceremony! Check your time zone. That will help make this Inauguration the lowest viewed ever. And we all know how important ratings are to Pres. elect Felon. Then keep looking for more ways to resist. There is always hope while you are alive. :-)
