Recovering Deadhead here. There’s a lyric from “New Speedway Boogie” that would tell you where they would stand regarding the former guy. “Please don’t dominate the rap, Jack, if you’ve got nothing new to say.” Later in that song, "Now I don't know but I been told, it's hard to run with the weight of gold.” And from the Grateful Dead’s Dark Star,
"Shall we go you and I while we can? Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds."
Those are amazing galaxy photos. Far out, man! LOL
Like your photographs of the night sky, you Robert are quite simply spectacular. It is now seven years (!) since you have been a critical companion and guide through the troubled times of Donald Trump. His days are finally dwindling down to a precious few, with either the courts or the voters administering the final blow. Thank you for helping so many of us get through this slough of despond.
For further elucidation on the declining mentality of Trump with a call for the people and the media to take it seriously, I encourage you to watch the podcast "Shrinking Trump"
Dr. Gartner is a leading psychologist, psychotherapist, author, activist, and long-time former part-time assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University Medical School. An expert in malignant narcissism, John recognized early on that Trump was unfit and dangerous. One of those who helped lead the charge is our co-host, Dr. Harry Segal, a senior lecturer in psychology at Cornell University. In 2017, Dr. Gartner created the organization Duty To Warn and was joined by thousands of mental health professionals from around the country who felt a duty to warn the population about Trump’s narcissism.
"And USA Today was right to describe the event as a festival—kind of a throwback to a Grateful Dead concert where people traveled for hundreds of miles to listen to long, improvisational jams that kept everyone guessing what was coming next."
Donald Trump can still pack 'em in-many all the way from Iowa, Michigan and Tennessee- Texas, even. Wildwood sits on a small peninsula, at the tip of New Jersey. I can just imagine the disdain the locals felt, dealing with such a bizarre crush of off-season traffic. Oh, wait-there were busloads of people! Meanwhile, Barron Trump has declined his father's party's invitation to serve as a delegate from Florida.
The Wildwood Spring Kustom Hot Rod and Muscle Car Event with free entry May 10-11 and other events most likely influenced the size of the GOP event with DT speaking. Smart planning on their part.
Your photographs are amazing and of course your family cabin is a great spot for setting up your new apparatus. So special. Traveling up to Skyline above Stanford where two nights ago some folks gleaned marvelous photos of the northern lights. I’ve been occupied moving Johnny out of the dorm, 10 days before graduation, returning 5/20 for awards programs, graduation practice and meetings. It’s a heady time. I have a reprieve for two nights so I’m heading up the mountain. Fingers crossed. Such a rare opportunity. Enjoying all the photographs on the Internet. Be safe as you return to the L.A. sprawl.
While it is true that the Grateful Dead broke record sales records held by Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley (to choose singers from different generations) and attracted large and admiring crowds to concerts. Nevertheless, Jerry Garcia would never have been elected president. Donald Trump should not have been and will not be elected president again.

And let us not forget that "every silver lining has a touch of grey". The President has more than a touch, but his impact is pure silver.
Beautifully said.
Thanks Susan.
Very, VERY far out! ;-)
Unfathomable distances...
Fantastic photos, Robert!

Yes, what you said, Roger! And it is such a pleasure to be amongst people who can not only quote the Dead but Bunyan, in the same string!
Couldn't agree more. Roger!
What a long strange trip it's been.
I'm pretty sure we all took the brown acid.
What's brown acid? (I never did get into drugs - they scared me, honestly.)
It’s a reference to Woodstock where many took bad acid suspected to be “the brown acid.”
OK, but mixed with other substances, or ..... what?
Phenomenal pictures! Thanks for sending!
Awesome pics from the Hubbell Space Telescope !! 🔭🪐
You photographed several fabulous looking galaxies! Seeing those is a nice way for me to end the day.

That is a gem of a sentence, Robert.
And those photos are gems as well.

Bumper sticker seen on a grocery store in North Carolina: “Trump 2024-the Revenge Tour”. Really????? How does that help voters?
Well, the sign lets us know where not to shop.
Makes me ashamed to live among such demented folk.
They're trolling you. Don't bite....

Jerry Garcia would have been a much better president, though.
He'd be the first to agree with you...
