Time to practice our earnest authentic sarcasm!

πŸ˜„πŸ‘Here's what ChatGPT told me. Enjoy! πŸ˜„πŸ‘

Of course! Authentic sarcasm is a form of communication that combines humor and irony to convey a message while still being genuine and sincere. Here are a few examples of how Democrats might incorporate authentic sarcasm into their social media messages while focusing on issues:

Climate Change:

"Hey climate change deniers, it's totally cool to ignore the overwhelming scientific consensus and let our planet roast like a marshmallow! Who needs polar ice caps anyway? 🌍😎 #Sarcasm #SaveThePlanet"

Healthcare:

"Sure, we love paying ridiculous medical bills! It's like Christmas every time we get one! πŸŽπŸ’Έ Let's keep this 'great' healthcare system intact! #Sarcasm #AffordableHealthcare"

Student Debt:

"Student loans are fantastic! We're just helping banks buy yachts while we drown in debt. πŸš’πŸ’° But hey, education isn't important, right? #Sarcasm #StudentDebtCrisis"

Income Inequality:

"Why fix income inequality? Let's just let the rich keep getting richer while the rest of us perfect the art of ramen noodles. 🍜🏰 #Sarcasm #FairEconomy"

Gun Control:

"Guns for everyone, everywhere! We definitely need more firepower in schools and bars, right? πŸ˜³πŸ”« #Sarcasm #GunControlNow"

Criminal Justice Reform:

"Let's keep packing prisons like sardines and pretend rehabilitation isn't a thing. Orange is the new black, right? πŸŠπŸ”’ #Sarcasm #JusticeReform"

Remember, the key to using authentic sarcasm effectively is to keep the message short, humorous, and relatable to the target audience. The goal is to provoke thought and stimulate discussions on important issues while staying true to the party's stance.

Excellent sarcasm of "Christian Nationalism". Certainly isn't the love your neighbor definition of Christianity!

ChatGPT is an AI app developed by OpenAI. GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. It is programmed to answer your questions and it is rather amazing! It even has ethics programming in it. It is quite conversational, articulate and polite. This is one of the positive uses of AI. https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt It is still free while they are testing it and refining it.

Please mention the Washington Post Opinion piece by

Celinda Lake and Mac Heller:

Opinion 2024 won’t be a Trump-Biden replay. You can thank Gen Z for that.

The last paragraph gives advice on talking with Gen Z voters:

"Meet young voters where they are: on social media, not cable news. Make your messages short, funny and somehow sarcastic yet authentic and earnest at the same time. Your focus should be issues first, issues second, candidates third and party identity never.

So, I asked ChatGPT to give me some examples. This is the response which I think is marvelous! Here's the link that gives you access:

I asked ChatGPT if the answer it gave me came from a particular website. Here is the answer. "As an AI language model, I don't have direct access to my training data or know where it came from. However, I was trained on a mixture of licensed data, data created by human trainers, and publicly available data. OpenAI, the organization behind my development, has not publicly disclosed the specifics of the individual datasets used, including whether data from specific websites was used." So a bit vague on the training data but it does say licensed or public. Interesting.

"The examples I provided were generated based on my understanding of the given prompt and my training on a diverse range of internet text, which includes social media platforms, news articles, blogs, and other sources. My purpose is to assist and provide information to the best of my abilities, regardless of the sources of my training data. Great comment Cathy. I've been thinking this past week that there is a wealth of talent available to craft "short, humorous, sarcastic" messages for Democrats. The striking writers from shows like Colbert and Kimmel are fantastic at political humor! And from what I could quickly research, writing political ads would not violate their union agreement.

Democrats need to utilize all the talent that's available...and show AI that it might be good, but if you want great, you need professional writers!

Any Biden staff willing to reach out and hire those fantastic striking comedy writers? Please do!!! It will be the closest their fans will get to the jokes we miss on Stephen Colbert's "The Late Show" and Jimmy Kimmel's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" And if the ads are as good as I believe they will be, I wouldn't be surprised if people retweet them in the multi-millions.

I would imagine Hunter Biden has a good lawyer. Distributing non-consensual sexual imagery is called revenge porn. My understanding is that revenge porn is illegal in 48 states and the District of Columbia. and violations are punishable by fines or up to three years in prison.

Let's hope something finally happens to that horrid excuse for a human being.

Expand full comment

If I read Robert's description of events correctly, it appears that Hunter Biden was not the "distributor" of said images. Weren't the photographs taken off of his computer by others who saw and spread information about its private contents after the 90 days when he didn't pick it up at the repair place? The revenge aspect is apparently by them against Hunter and President Biden.

Regarding having sexual pictures on a private computer, I don't think there is a law in this country against being stupid or doing something stupid. I also don't think that being an addict makes someone a "horrid excuse for a human being."

If I have misread Lynn's post, I apologize. Regardless, I stand by feeling sadness and compassion for having Hunter's addiction and stupid, careless choices dragged through the press and now onto the floor of the House of Representatives, then posted online by MTG. It must make his struggle to stay clean all the harder.

That said, I think he's a s__t to reject his daughter, as has been reported. How's that for being judgemental? I am not immune to making uninformed assessments of someone else's behavior. I don't even know Hunter Biden.

I am proud of President Biden, who clearly loves his son, and is trying to do his best for his troubled son.

Expand full comment

I think Lynn was referring to Marjorie Taylor Greene as "that horrible excuse of a human being" and suggesting that Hunter Biden's lawyer should sue her for distributing revenge porn. ??

Expand full comment

Maybe Lynn will clarify for us.

Expand full comment

Yes Hermine. I thought my thoughts were pretty apparent as a response to what Robert had reported regarding MTG's antics in the House this week.

I will accept your apology regarding your misunderstanding of my comments. It was a pretty big stretch to turn my comments around as you did . I have nothing but compassion for Hunter in the life that he's been dealt with the loss of a mother and a brother as he has. I also do not sit in judgement over the situation with his daughter. I find that to be none of my business.

Thank you Susan. Yes, I was most certainly referring to MTG being punished for her exploitation of such intensely personal material. She is nothing short of disgusting. There is something wrong with that woman's brain.

President Biden shows us daily what it is to be a good and kind person, as well as a loving father. It is a comfort to me that he is Commander in Chief and we have to do everything in our power to make sure he maintains that role in 2024. This country needs the moral compass that he can provide.

Expand full comment

Thanks for your explanation, Lynn. I certainly did misunderstand your comments.

As for personal matters being personal, I don't understand the prurient obsessions of Republicans in government into the private lives of Americans. Remember the Clinton impeachment hearings? It's only gotten worse. I really think it was better when there was a basic agreement that some private matters were left alone.

I saw a wonderful ad the other day. A couple in their bedroom, reaching for a condom in their bedside table, and looking up in surprise to find a man in their bedroom. "I'm your Republican member of Congress," the man announced, "and I'm here to make sure you don't break the law." Something like that. It felt eerily possible.

What a world we are living in.

Expand full comment

It's difficult for me to comprehend people making negative comments about Hunter Biden's daughter. Some things are private, reminds me of people who thought Hillary should divorce Bill -- It's Her Business, not ours. In WI one of our representatives (can't remember who exactly) stated a woman's health was an issue between she, her doctor & her government representative. Not far from your condom ad.

It is my understanding the the mother of Hunter Biden’s daughter set the rules asking/requiring Hunter not to have any contact with the daughter and Hunter is honoring her wishes for the time being.

Where are the Moms for Liberty???? They should be yelling outside the Capitol to remove MTG for indoctrinating young minds, as well as old minds, who had to see something totally irrelevant to the issue at hand (which was also irrelevant to the governance of this country). I think it would be interesting to analyze what lack of upbringing gave form to the stupidity and gross misbehavior of the MAGA mob. Was it the public's insistence on defunding our public schools, foregoing civics and the arts in order to lower state taxes? Was it the love of money in our consumerist society, the desire to own more than our friends and neighbors? What was it?

Yes. It feels like the worst elements of behavior have been taught rather than respecting each other and honoring our institutions. It's as if there have been courses in "How to Bully" - when you have nothing else to offer.

I just read a newsletter from our Massachusetts State Senator that we are one of only two states that do not have a law making β€œrevenge porn” a crime. Arrest would be a fitting punishment for such despicable behavior.

As the mother of two adult children I can say unequivocally that the culture aims to turn them into good followers. I recently found an article that posits that killer whale mothers stay alive an average of 22 yrs after they stop being fertile and that their offspring have less wounds from fights. (this is how it was measured) This and that whale mothers have escorts (not the father) after they have their offspring in Hawaii to return to the arctic with them and their babies. Unless you show your depth as a human being you cannot expect your children to show theirs. Contempt for other human beings cannot be met with more contempt. You have to point out that you young person needs to evaluate their own actions: is this now between them and another person (leveraging)? How would this other person receive this action or non action? Personal responsibility in every case means an adult becomes an adult. Also, I forwarded this to my child. People can't change things alone, or in one gasp. It takes lots of work. Being older means wisdom, knowing this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NeQK9HJIvg Navalny's closing comments at his trial.
