“Love is love” says Joe Biden and he’s right. He hasn’t defined hate but we see where and who foments it. The insurrection, the killings at Uvalde, Parkland, Sandy Hook, a Colorado movie theater, and in a Buffalo, NY supermarket are all fueled by the NRA, the Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society, and white supremacy. We are now a terrorist country. I am sad.

The Stormy Daniels issue has become the Democrat's "Hunter Biden's briefcase. Can we move on? Enough already with the morality platform with this guy. It has already been proven voters don't care.
What I want to know is this: Why isn't every pundit and citizen in this Country screaming from the Empire State Building this heinous fact?
HE IGNORED COVID. He can't keep Americans safe and alive.
I personally credit Joe Biden with quite possibly saving my life. 200 million vaccines in 90 days accomplished in a massive logistical rollout.
Barbara, your comparison of issues is powerful and clearly logical. Trump's Covid denial is akin to mass murder. Mass negligence, for sure. Politics above people's lives. At a minimum he should be charged with manslaughter. He will rot in Hell for that. I wish I believed in a Hell.
But I think Robert makes the point that the more investigations and potential charges that are aligned against this monster, the more likely something will stick. At this point, I don't care what he is convicted of. I just want him behind bars. Isn't it sad that we feel like we are just throwing pasta at the wall?
But the big one has to be the Insurrection. That could bar him from holding office again. Maybe.
You make a good point. Is the Daniel's case enough to put him in prison? My thoughts are to not get distracted by the avalanche of morality issues though.
Having seen crop tops for little girls at Target, the near nudity at Hollywood Award ceremonies and the stuff floating on social media I don't think the voters are deeply concerned about what an immoral narcissist this guy is.
yes, that was my point. Trump can have all the sordid affairs he wants, and the Christian evangelicals who worship him won't care. But Cohen went to prison for paying the money and failing to report it to the FEC. How can Trump NOT go to prison for the same thing? Oh, and by the way, it is a FEDERAL crime. Where is Merrick Garland?
Many of us have been asking the last question for a long time. The Special Counsel appointment is/may be progress, but as the saying goes, justice delayed is justice denied and the American people deserve to see justice done.
Bill , he will be indicted but unfortunately a large percentage of followers will not care and will continue to support him. Until sane Republicans step up and take the party back Trump like behaviors will prevail.
Thank you for this. "The United States' dismal public health ratings owe a debt to the haze of vaccine misinformation that pervades the United States, and which has become dogma among some right-wing politicians who have encouraged the spread of public health misinformation for political gain." This quote from the article says it all.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg should never have dismissed the “investigations” into the corrup former guy. Like Garland, he is a coward and a lightweight.
When obvious and widely available evidence of criminal activity is available, there can be no excuse not to fully pursue the facts and bring the matters to trial. In the situation of stolen classified documents, there is no excuse tot to aggressively investigate and indict. There is certainly no question that crimes were committed, no special counsel is necessary or appropriate. The same is true for xthe payment of hush money.
In both cases, all that is needed are people with the courage and conviction to properly proceed. The clock is running and both of these men have failed to do their jobs to provide justice for the American People.
Neil your comments are inappropriate because they are based on emotions not the facts. The hush money payments cases was dropped because they did not have enough evidence to convict Trump. The current move is to try and get the Trump Organization’s CFO to flip because he facilitated the payments and to date he has not been willing to do that. Without that testimony they can’t win the case. What gets lost in the media coverage is proving beyond a reasonable doubt in front of a jury that Trump was guilty of crime. It had nothing to do with the character of the prosecutor but with the high bar required for a conviction.
HI, Stephen. I am having trouble following your argument. I thought the case against Trump was dropped because DOJ policy is that you can't indict a sitting president. They had enough evidence to convict Trump because they had Michael Cohen's testimony and cooperation. I don't think they need Weisselberg to convict Trump. They didn't need him to convict Cohen.
Stephen, you certainly may disagree with my comments. However, they are certainly not inappropriate or based on emotion rather than available facts. Yes, emotionally, and intellectually, I believe that Bragg and Garland have failed to properly do their jobs in a timely fashion. Yes, I believe broad and incontrovertible evidence has been disclosed publicly. No, I do not believe a prosecutor is allowed to only bring cases to trial when a win is assured....why have a jury?
I believe Robert clearly outlined the landscape on the hush money case. The stolen classified documents is, to my mind, having experience in such matters, a slam dunk. If that is your bar, it is clearly met here.
I suspect justice will, eventually, prevail. But, in these matters a Special Prosecutor is not necessary. Perhaps it is appropriate in the Jan 6 investigation. But, coming up on two years and no major players indicted is a disgrace and a perversion of justice.
“How dark money bought the Supreme Court seats!” Videos of speeches on the senate floor on YouTube by Senator Whitehouse is a MUST watch for those who will defend our democracy!
Roberts response, written by a court lackey, was insulting to all citizens.
Isn’t it time for Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito to consider retirement, in order to avoid bringing (further) discredit on the Court?
I’ve been making calls for Warnock, and will again this afternoon. It can be tedious (and also uplifting), but at its worst it’s a lot better that having to endure travel at Thanksgiving. (On the other hand, we don’t have anyone to see who live within a reasonable distance.)
Good to hear from a fellow phone banker! I love calling in Georgia, did so in 2020 both for the election & ballot curing. Have been at it again since this election, calling to cure ballots in NV, CO, and CA, and to get out the vote in GA. Knowing that you’re helping people to exercise their right to vote, and hearing their stories, makes one proud of the resiliency of the American people.
Seeing how Americans stood up for democracy this November has made me very grateful. How appropriate for Thanksgiving!
Last night Heather Cox Richardson hosted a live conversation with Dahlia Lithwick. It was so informative and Dahlia’s insights into the Supreme Court are insightful. The video cut out after 30 minutes and then started again, so there are two parts. I’m having trouble copying the links so if someone else has Facebook and can do that, it would be appreciated.
Fierro thought he had killed that third generation far right wingnut (his mother is a far wingnut, his grandfather is one of the craziest pro-Trump frar-far right wingnuts in California). It would have been garbage removal.
Working daily to help Rev Warnock get Re-elected but we are taking Thanksgiving off!!! Talking to voters is so rewarding and getting Saturday and/or Sunday early voting in many of Georgia’s 159 counties is a huge step towards fighting voter suppression. Thank you Mark Elias and team. Remember the judge gave permission to have weekend voting. Key word is permission so each county in GA determines its days, hours and more importantly locations for early voting. Douglas County is having early voting today and tomorrow. A huge step. So please vote early. Rev Warnock needs every vote to win. Do not sit the runoff out! If you live in GA go to iwillvote.com to find your county’s early voting information.
I will keep fighting to save democracy one vote at a time. Your vote=your voice!!!
Robert, I hope you don't take this as someone complaining about your almost perfect grammar (wink), but I would like to clarify that members of the SCOTUS are corrupt and are available for purchase, ie the right wingers, and not the whole court. It is a shame that RBG and others are tarnished by the extremist justices.
Can sworn peace officers who refused to uphold the law be sued for personal responsibility arising from dereliction of their duties, which should remove their personal liability protection since they are no longer operating under the rules and procedures of the agency they work for? Maybe I'm just ignorant but I'm surprised that I didn't see any other comments or responses to this story; or maybe because, regrettably, most of those other stories involved tragedies of larger scope.
The media is doing what the media does best: focusing on pictures of flowers and balloons outside the club, interviewing tearful family members, and promoting the story of the heroic actions of the patrons and performers who prevented worse tragedy. Telling the story of the red flag laws distracts from the pretty pictures and "just so" narratives of heroism. Plus, it takes work and time to tell the story. The journalists--and their editors--are lazy an uninterested. They need to turn the tragedy into entertainment. Sorry for the rant, but it is just like Uvalde. Law enforcement has sealed the records relating to the killer because they don't wan't to be exposed for their dereliction of duty. I hope the media will wake up.
Wow; I’m not sure the media isn’t already wide awake and making a conscious decision to take the lazy, safe, super center path. Uninterested. Hmmmm ya, maybe
The Supreme Court story is definitely worth pursuing and paying attention to. Corruption can and does take multiple forms, subtle as well as overt. I’m wondering if the now majority Justices are denying participation in the subtle forms; there plenty of overt evidence they they are and have been at least on the proverbial “slippery slope.”
The real story is much worse than suggested. One conservative justice has a regular poker game with conservative members of the Supreme Court bar. Conservative lawyers play poker with him on Saturday and argue before him on Monday. Does that strike anyone as inappropriate? I know this from someone who has played in those games--and it is a well-known fact around Washington. Why is the media ignoring the story? Because that type of socializing is the norm for the Supreme Court. Remember that Scalia died at a private hunting lodge on an all-expense paid vacation, hosted by the owner of a company whose case Scalia had voted on in the prior twelve months.
Robert, you are right. It's hard to overstate the incestuous nature of politics played incessantly in DC. I lived and worked there for 12 years (not in government per se, but adjacent). Literally, EVERYTHING is political there (with a small "p"). Not surprised AT ALL to learn there apparently is a grossly inappropriate standing poker game attached to the Court and lawyers who practice there.
I realized, working in Washington, how utterly naive and trusting in government I was, having grown up and been educated in the Midwest. We all must finally understand -- and tackle -- the hard truths of our current reality.
Secondly your readers are not unanimous in wanting unending military support for Ukraine. There is serious questions about how the US promoted this event and the Nazi elements within the Ukrainian government. Worse the Republicans are using this situation to argue that the Democrats care more about people in another country than about people here and it’s true there’s no money for vaccine Research here because it all has to go to the military industrial complex. After watching all the fake wars promoted since 2000 think we should have a healthy dose of skepticism.
Although I agree that we always should look critically at wars, I think that your information about nazi elements in the Ukrainian government stems from Russian propaganda. Russia is on a roll to restore territory that they possessed during the days of their czars. That worries everyone in Europe. The Ukraine is defending itself and I think that it is worth it to support an aspiring democracy against dangerous emperialism, which btw is showing more dictatorial and fascists traits than you are suggesting about the Ukraine. We have to stop Putin's regime.
Obviously, you should be guided by your conscience about whether you contribute to a defense fund. But I don't think there are any questions about "how the US promoted" the conflict in Ukraine--except those raised by Russian disinformation efforts. Ukraine is an independent nation. Putin said he wouldn't invade. Then he did. He said he was invading to protect ethnic Russians in Ukraine's southeast border region from Nazis, but he is bombing cities in the far interior of Ukraine unrelated to his claims of deNazification. Now he says he might use a nuclear weapon to deNazify Ukraine. I hope you can see that Putin is a liar and mass murder. Please don't buy into his lies.
I can only speak for myself and reflect the conversations I observe and participate in here and on other Substack forums. I have only heard 100% support for Ukraine. And let us be honest. The real Nazis are in Moscow and in Mar a Lago.
The suggestion that the US "promoted this event" is junk. Do you really think we wanted to empty our warehouses of weapons and send billions of dollars to Ukraine on a conspiracy theory? Sorry, I get the "Military Industrial Complex" problem. We DO spend too much on that vs domestic issues. But now our military resources are so depleted that according to top military analysts and top brass, we would have trouble fighting a "medium sized war". We are actually UNDER FUNDED. For both our defense systems and our domestic nightmares. And China is fully aware.
There is plenty of money for all of this. A handful of Americans have $100 trillion - and until now have paid very little in taxes. They are leeches.
If you are concerned about vaccines, I can tell you that casual research reveals that most people in the US are not even fully boosted for Covid. Many not vaccinated at all! That is a choice. A foolish and dangerous one. There are adequate supplies. Just not enough adequate intelligence.
As to your reference to the "fake wars" promoted since 2000 and the MIC, you are spot on. Trillions wasted on bogus pretenses and ignorance. Iraq was more than a mistake. It was a transfer of money from the public to the Military Industrial Complex. Thank you Dick Cheney. Just like Afghanistan and Vietnam....
There are people with Nazi-like predelictions in every country. The question is how much political power do they exercise? Putin's regime and behavior seem very Hitler-like.
I don’t understand. By supporting Ukraine are we not protecting ourselves from Russia. Is it not accurate to say that if Putin wins (gets what he wants) that he will then do it again, and again? We may be powerful enough to hold him off (are we?) but do we want a world where Putin annexes countries and just stomps all over the planet taking what he wants? What if he comes for us? Certainly not trying to conjure up a weird, paranoid vision of a fake future but I’m pretty sure people smarter than you or I have asked these questions.
When the heart button doesn’t turn red, refresh your page and it should then show it’s red. If not, just click on it again, and it should turn red. You may have to scroll to find it.
Please be specific in your claims about “Nazi elements within the Ukrainian government”. Maybe some actual facts? Just because Putin says it doesn’t make it true.
And remember that Ukrainian president Zelensky is Jewish.
I disagree strongly with Lauren's comment--see my reply to her. It is true that Ukraine, like the US, Germany, Poland, etc., has a small segment of extremists who follow a white nationalist credo. That is not a ground for invading Ukraine, or the US, Germany, Poland, etc. It is an excuse fabricated by Putin. And BTW, some of the white nationalists in Ukraine are ethnic Russians.
Lauren, your red is showing. There is no money for social and medical causes because the republicans will not allow it. The military industrial complex was birthed and feed by republicans white rich men. Nazi elements in Ukraine? A direct Putin quote of disinformation. What about the Nazi elements here in America promoted by racist right wing white republicans? Try turning off Fox news, you sound like an ad.
I'm sorry for being overly sensitive (and for apologizing for being overly sensitive) but I'd like this comment far better if the first and last sentence were removed. Without the first one, it is a statement of opinion and reasons for the opinion but loses the personal targeting aspect. We can tolerate and address (hopefully constructively) different opinions on here. In fact this is someone who says they like to read Mr. Hubbell so at least comes from a position of being more open minded and possibly Persuadable.
I'd say the same about the last line. I do have a suggested substitute for you however: "Would their presence constitute an adequate excuse for a Russian invasion of our country?" If not, then it's hardly an excuse to have invaded Ukraine.
Good point but reading nonsense seems to cause me to reply in a condescending manner. The writer's statements, whether alternative facts or just opinion, have no basis in fact or history. Sorry to have offended your sensitivities.
Ms. Lauren provides no citations, quotes or dates for her assertions. She also uses trigger words and unverified assertions which is indictive of propaganda.
I checked this group on Media Bias Fact Check site. The receive a left-center rating but also a ding on a lack of transparency concerning their funding. They appear to be donor funded? Who funds this site Lauren?
All of the Colorado Springs coverage should focus on the cover up that allowed this Republican grandson to avoid a red flag laws
“Love is love” says Joe Biden and he’s right. He hasn’t defined hate but we see where and who foments it. Bill, I've always believed he should be prosecuted for negligent homicide vis-a-vis Covid.
How can you not believe in Hell Bill? With all of the examples we see every day, there are times when it seems we might be on the doorstep.
I agree as far as putting the failed insurrectionist away. And at least pasta doesn't stain the walls like ketchup.
My, we're feeling cheeky today!
Indeed, it's the weather and Thanksgiving prep. Might be some frustration with the political process too.

Caitlin Johnstone is one of the few journalist who has explored this, In case any of you were curious. On with our work!
Well said. Thank You.
Consortiumnews.org has much more
There are people with Nazi-like predelictions in every country.

Agree. Not sure you will get some rational explanation for propaganda material though.
That's okay. I expect I will manage to crawl along putting myself back together again... ;)
Consortiumnews.com is the opposite of fox.
