As we each have the job to speak up, getting out the vote is essential. No room for Democratic complacency! Some states close their voter registration in the next few days.

Our shero Jessica Craven shows the way on her "Chop Wood, Carry Water" with an easy app, SwipeBlue, for us to do our part using the most effective method, relational organizing--making our voices heard, talking to our friends and neighbors, and following up with a simple swipe to remind them to vote!

Right on ! We need to speak up when injustice is supported. Taken a step further, I’m reminded of Thomas Jefferson stating “when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.”

Good stuff, bob. I hope you raise a bundle for Ryan. The Dims are too dim to see what's right there in front of them.

I’m not a big fan of Michael Moore but I respect his right to bring attention to major political and social issues addressed in documentaries. I applaud the content but not the self promotion. The reason I mentioned this is because he has created the “ Tsunami of Truth” which is predicting that “ Roevember” will be an overwhelming and unprecedented wave of voters frustrated and fed up with the Republican Party who will come out in masse. He gives specific examples including “ nutters” candidates who are totally unqualified ( think Hershel Walker) and voters who just have “ had enough”. As I read everyday the racists and comments about abortion, Medicare, Social Security and drug prices I keep thinking where is the outrage.? I am hoping that Michael Moore is correct and this quiet outrage will manifest itself in massive voter turnout. As a friend said to me yesterday pollsters don’t measure outrage.

I hope this doesn’t sound like a rant, but maybe it is. I am so angry at the Democrats who are not bringing the fight to these campaigns. Yes, TC, an old friend has called them the “dim Dems” for years. They have left Tim Ryan out to dry. They have failed to sound the alarm about the very real threat to democracy. Some bright light decided it would be a good idea to support the extreme candidates in the primaries because they thought they could beat them more easily and look what’s happened. They actually could win. Republicans have kicked our butt for so many years now because they have all stuck together and know how to fight. Last night I heard Michael Steele say that the Dems should be working with Katie Hobbs in Arizona to debate Kari Lake and show how unqualified and radical she is. Katie should be able to demolish Lake. And where are the big Democratic donors? So many of these campaigns have done well because of us small donors. Why don’t Michael Bloomberg, Tom Steyer (and others) make more of an effort? Ok. I’m done.

This is so awesome! I follow MideasTouch on Twitter and they had reposted it. An incredible bullet point of all Biden and Dems have created for all Americans by an amazing young man.

One of the seminal influences on my adult life was the example of my late father-in-law, Norman Fellman, a devout Jew, who was also a Prisoner-of-War, incarcerated at Berga for nine months, after being captured at the Battle of the Bulge's southern flank, near Metz. Pop was a conservative Republican, all his adult life, but he abhorred the thought of Donald Trump ever taking the oath of any office. He'd have been proud of Liz Cheney. Being of the opposite political persuasion, I daresay he'd have been sick to death of the comments being made about Jews, by Trump loyalists. I am grateful that he did not live to see this day.

On another note, there is the minor spectacle of Tulsi Gabbard, who I once respected, fulminating about "anti-white racism". In nearly seventy-two years on this planet, I can count on one hand the number of times that a person of colour has called me out for the colour of my skin. In visits with "woke" (how I despise that term) people, I have only been treated kindly and with all manner of respect. Maybe that has to do with how I approach them. Finally, I am just as incensed by diatribes towards poor whites, Appalachians, trailer-dwellers, homeless veterans, as I am towards diatribes against people of colour. Suffering is suffering, and only a united front will put an end to the worst of it.

I am going to make a donation to Tim's campaign but as I am 9 hours ahead of Pacific Time and just can't stay up that late, will not be able to do it here. Thank you though.

In reading Kanye's remarks, I couldn't help but be reminded of the session he had with Trump in the Oval Office in 2018. At the time, I thought to myself that here were two people with some serious psychological problems. Add to that the comment from the minority members of the House Judiciary Committee, the unfitness of many of their candidates, and the complete abasement of their leadership, it becomes obvious that there is a serious pathological illness running through the Republican party. Where could this go from here? Not to be an alarmist, but in "The Garden of the Beasts", about Germany in the early 1930s, author Erik Larson gives us a chilling perspective on what can happen when seriously impaired leaders rise to power.

I just made our fourth contribution to Tim Ryan. He is a quality person with principles, intelligence and strength to do the right thing. He reminds us that the best leaders are not perfect. They make mistakes, accept responsibility and move on to the next successful pursuit. That is Tim Ryan. We need to support him now, and I hope the National Democratic Party gets it act together and supports him.

I immediately donated to Tim Ryan's campaign. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to 'get to know' him through your column. He is DEFINITELY a great candidate and just what our country needs. I live 6 hours 'ahead' time wise, so I won't be able to attend your interview, but I am so happy others will be able to see it!

“Don’t let them yank your chain.” ~ Rachel Maddow (final few minutes of her appearance on Alex Wagner’s MSNBC show, 10/11/2022). Rachel is drawing a lesson from America's 1940’s struggle against fascism, and it’s acutely important for today. She goes on to point out, "When somebody tries to make you outraged, that means your outrage is you playing their request.”

As a psychotherapist, I urge my clients to do the same thing — resist handing over their internal mood control to another person who’s behaving outrageously. Vaccinations aim at the same thing — building up immunity to outside disruptions. I encourage other readers to do what I aim at and what Robert models with such power: Re-purpose my fear and outrage toward resolve and action. No wallowing in “how horrible and hopeless it all is.”

Have you read the Salon online article re. Michael Moore’s Tsunami of truth(s)? It basically reinforces your statement RE. Potential for upset. I always like you’re closing line, we should be confident but not complacent? All the best, and thanks!
