As I reflect on Trump's latest and most dangerous insanity, it occurred to me that the smartest and best investment ever made in all of world history is Putin's purchase/capture of Trump, seemingly for pennies on the dollar. Putin's investment return is immeasurable: The downfall of the United States as the most trusted, powerful and reliable partner supporting democracies throughout the world. Given that we have presidential elections every four years and the possibility that another maniac might be elected, I don't see how any former ally could ever again place permanent or any significant trust in the continuing faithfulness and support of our country. How many years will it take (if ever) for our country ever again to be considered and treated as the world's preeminent force for freedom and good? And, what about any notion of American exceptionalism? This is so very sad and disheartening. Putin outsmarted us. Hope I'm wrong.
There have been so many versions of who and why and who called it out...But the crux of it all to me is that we must do here as Robert Hubbell always tells us, get out and protest and get out the VOTE in these primaries to round up a wonderful slate of great non GOP candidates or Independents who will help us turn this around with the law and the Constitution backing us. Take heart in each victory no matter how small it may seem at the outset. SOme days just putting one foot in front of the other may be all we can do; but we CAN DO THAT! Thanks again for ALL OF US!

He hates laws, he hates that all of us our treated equally, he hates that anyone can try to come to our country, he hates anyone or any institution that holds him accountable. He thinks he is truly better than most of us. He thinks he is so smart and rich that of course he should tell the rest of us what to do and how to live. I believe he would tear down the Statue of Liberty if he could get away with it. He wants to do whatever - whenever he wants including raping 13 year old girls - and have total impunity - no consequences!

As we have experienced in our lifetimes, once you start a war, it's not easy to stop. In the Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the mightiest power in the world, the US, was defeated. In comparison to those countries, Iran is a military powerhouse which controls the Hormuz strait through which about 30% of the world's oil travels. In that sense, Iran is the equivalent of an economic powerhouse. Soon enough, we are going to feel the economic consequences of T's war and that will affect voters who are still on the fence.
There is no war in the Constitutional sense. Only Congress can create a legal war by a formal declaration. The president, as commander in chief of the military, can command the military to do things which look like war. But there is no "war" until the formal declaration by Congress is complete.
So what is "war"? We can explore dictionary definitions of the word for all the good it will do us.

Why hundreds of millions are not already in the streets in protest I will never understand.
Trump's war is all sorts of illegal, there's no denying it. We certainly don't know what he's unleashed. But in all the commentary about how the US and Iran were "close to an agreement" on nukes or whatever, we'll never know what was in this alleged "better deal than Obama's." Even if it was better, to my knowledge, no agreement has ever demanded that Iran stop its proxy wars. The Islamic Republic has since its inception waged war on Israel a) because it exists and b) because it is a Jewish state. Under the radical Islam view Jews deserve to die. Period. They have through their proxies inflicted untold damage and tragedy in Israel more than any other place or people. Hamas, one of its most lethal proxies, has wreaked havoc not just on Israelis but on the Palestinians it purports to protect and has spread its hate throughout the West. For all the wrongness of what Trump is doing, it would be a good thing if we could rid the Middle East, the Iranians, and the world of the scourge of Islamic Republic hatred and terrorism.
