Also, please note that in my haste to get out a seventh newsletter this week, I slipped up and wrote "Democrat" rather than "Democratic" in one sentence. I have corrected the online version of the newsletter. I hope you understand that I know Republicans use the term as a smear; I also hope that you would recognize the slip-up as a typo. Thanks for your understanding.

I agree 100% foosbeal. I cringe every time Robert feels the need to address grammar issues and typos are just a part of our world today. What Robert accomplishes 6 days/week is so much more important than that.

No. As Robert says, “Democrat” rather than “Democratic” is a slur, a sign that Republicans don’t respect the other party enough to use its name properly. If we started calling the other party the Repub Party, they’d scream.

I prefer, "Repugnicans." I realize it's not the same as an abbreviation, but it sure fits.

Now there’s an idea. Let’s call them the Repubs and watch them scream. It really is time for them to see that the Libs hang tough and talk tough and understand their ugly core. I just feel the need to weigh in with a suggestion that perhaps we can do better than create labels for the failed Conservative Party. Why? Well, ultimately we must be a country of politics with respect for legitimate discourse (Civil Discourse, as Joyce Vance’s blog suggests.) with a parties with a level of integrity to explore “ideas” and contribute to a healthy dialogue.

Regretfully we don’t have that these days but it is worth our efforts to eventually be seeking a better way forward. Epithets won’t bridge this gap. Not sure what will but do look forward to a new, healthier political day.

45 days of funding and lots of material for really tough anti-Republican election ads for 2024. Still

the possibility of funding for Ukraine (They still need ammo, not money). Fox News making fun of Comer's idiotic no-evidence impeachment debacle live on-air. An indicted election official in Georgia pleading guilty and possibly turning state's evidence to secure a lesser sentence (and Sidney Powell likely shaking in her boots.) The Trump organization, including some family residences, being broken up and sold off. A rockin' good speech from President Biden and photos of Biden from the UAW picket lines. And a report today that shows inflation is down and nearing the 3 percent (or under) goal.

As someone that had a similar upbringing, I know much of the “adoration, admiration and love” I so desperately needed came from the worst of attention to me as a young woman. When she “looks” and “says” things that bring her attention - it is a source of love and confidence for her. It’s all she has and that’s incredibly sad. I had two very caring and important teachers in my life that kept me from being a story similar to Lauren. What a shocking and delightful turn of events! Despite the obvious massive defeat of the shutdowners, I was struck by the nastiness of Subwoofer McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader McConnell in their "victory" speeches. Neither of them are willing to admit that they didn't win, much less admit that they lost. McConnell at least admitted that the brinkmanship was unhelpful.

If you haven't done so already, listen to Hakeem's extemporaneous speech. He not only gave his caucus 52 minutes to make sure the "oh so honest" Subwoofer McCarthy wasn't trying to pull a fast one, but he laid bare their failures in many cases when they tried to do so, and cited a list of successes when they worked for the common good, and when they didn't, the successes of the Democrats when they had to go it alone. I look forward to seeing him in the Speaker's chair in January 2025, after two years of vacancy.

And if you hold strong in your noble efforts we will take Ukraine in final victory, thereby enriching ourselves with their valuable resources enabling us to rebuild our forces so we can expand even further. Eventually when we are ready we will join forces with our allies, China and North Korea an invade the united States. Don't worry, your lives will be spared. Although normally we would execute anyone who is a traitor to their own county as they can't really be trusted (like Prigozhin). The big problems ahead though for this situation is Putin can't afford to lose with so much money and so many lost lives invested already. So let's say Ukraine is successful in pushing his troops out of their country completely, would the war be over? Ukraine would cease fire at that point but I think there's going to be big problems ahead one way or another unless something happens to Putin.

It makes it seem possible that when the funding extension is up, the same maneuver can be used to get things done again. I do not think it is coincidental that as Trump is trying to exercise his power, almost from prison, the threat to his financial well-being brought about by the state of New York having some people brave enough to require him to follow the rules, means that he is weakened. He is now dependent solely on other people's money, which will not grow by his saying it is so. His campaign fund has to go to paying his legal bills, and the people filling those coffers might be less eager to do so when Trump seems to have no money of his own. Of course, a Saudi bailout negotiated by his buddy Putin might come along, but then again, Saudi access through the Trump family is probably drying up like their wells. So, perhaps we are seeing the beginning of the crumbling of the MAGA empire. Trump is hardly appearing lucid as it is. Maybe the MAGA minions who eagerly follow Trump can switch their attention to The Golden Bachelor since they clearly need entertainment that takes them away from the realities of their everyday lives. Let us hope that the Fox "News" Empire is crumbling too, when Smartmatic gets their settlement, and the New York City and State of Oregon's Pension Funds are suing Fox too, which is clearly showing us all how it is done. It is the tortoise and the hare. The systems that Biden set in place, are slowly but surely having a chance to get things done. As each corrupt entity crumbles, it makes it easier to get to the next and the next. Let us hope it ends up taking down this supreme court. We the people do not support their corruption, and it shows at the ballot box.

The implication of that is that if Ukraine aid had been in the CR, he would not have gotten any GOP votes. I just wonder if that is true--not whether what you said about McCarthy's belief that it is true but whether McCarthy's belief that he had to do it is accurate. And I wonder if McCarthy's real calculation was that he needed to toss the Freedom Caucus a bone to try to keep his position since he crossed a line by having the temerity to work with Democrats. Ukraine was the bone. Interesting how Ukraine is a recurring theme in GOP perfidy.
