Love the Protest Pics! Especially the Fake News/ Fake President sign in Peabody, MA, and the Roberts-Supreme Court signs from Lake Oswego. Rigged sign from Bend, Ore. All are awesome!

I cannot respect this Republican Party. Their inability to govern, their endless corruption, and their willingness to go along with Trump’s cruelty turns m stomach.

Please call your Senators (and any other Senators) today and ask them to cosponsor S. 4814 with 19 of their colleagues to extend TPS status for Haitians! This is the companion bill to H. R. 1689 which passed in April with bipartisan support.

And so, we see that even John Roberts has his lucid moments: 5-4, turning down the bid to ban counting mailed in ballots postmarked before , but received after, Election Day. The Election will go on!

Again, watch the American Conversations interview with Josh Turek, running for U.S. Senate in Iowa.

Let us work oh so hard to ensure that the SAVE Act is forever DEAD! November blueness!

Turkiye (new spelling), Egypt, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are negotiating a new security arrangement that will eventually include the Gulf States and Iran. They understand that the terrorist state in their midst is Israel not Iran. They also realize the US prioritizes Israel over them and that it is incapable of providing the security it promised.

Thank you thank you, Robert! Sharing your on-point insights and our images from across the country are both such a help! I love reading people's protest picture explanations in today's !

Anybody have any info on protests/rallies over the weekend in DC? I’ve seen only a couple brief mentions.

Just read that SCOTUS rejected the POS' appeal in the E Jean Carroll case, meaning he owes her $5 million. I view this as the "carrot" in the six cases they should release their decision on by June 30th. I fear the "stick" may be birthright citizenship, which would add another tear in our Constitution.

There are so many reasons to feel depressed or afraid for our collective futures. I have a 30 minute rule that works for me and maybe it will help you. When I feel like fighting this regime is futile I tell myself, "you have 30 minutes to wallow in the mire then move on". It usually doesn't take the entire 30 minutes for me to "move on" but putting a time limit on my negativity does work.

I often encouraged my middle school kiddos to “put it on a shelf” where they could go pick it back up later. Seemed to help.

My first request for all of you today, if you have not read it yet, go read the acceptance speech of James Talarico, accepting the democratic nomination for Senator from Texas. It's the sum total of Heather Cox Richardson post today. Let it hopefully inspire you to support Democratic candidates everywhere. We can all do something no matter how small, it's all connected and important. I am old enough to remember some of the people he mentions. Pass it on to anyone whose hopes are flagging. Let's all support one another too!

The power of misinformation is stronger than we think! Everytime I read a comment from a reader on Facebook posts, or from passersby on the bridge where I protest, when the topic is the SAVE ACT, the MAGAS always say “Get an ID to vote. Unless you’re not a citizen. It’s not hard”. It shows no understanding of what the SAVE ACT really wants: not just a photo ID, which most states now require. But proof of citizenship! Passports in this country are not mandatory, and they are costly. Not everyone, especially rural voters, has access to their birth certificates and corresponding marriage certificates for women. If we want to create a national card that has done background checks and has all pertinent information, including citizenship status, that would require the government to provide such cards. Traditionally, Americans have resisted turning over that kind of information to the government - especially conservatives. The MAGA voters buy whatever Trump says, and all the Republican leaders explain this as just “a need for proper ID to vote”. No, it’s far more than that. And that is just one main item in the SAVE ACT. Wonder if the MAGA voters realize how much it curtails mail-in ballots, which Republicans use to a large extent, along with Democrats. And of note in this voting bill: Trump adds “no men in Womens’ sports”, as well as “no gender surgery for minors”. Of course, most of the Republican leaders would be thrilled with these unnecessary and cruel items, which have no business in a bill that deals with voting. It is sickening and Trump will keep pushing until the Republicans crack.

Great clarification , Laura. We should also name the act for what it intends to do under the guidance of Anat Shenker-Osorio (Messaging Maven of the Movement), and call it the Voter Elimination Act.

The next time Trump rambles on about Communism and Socialism, someone in the press corps shouldask him to explain the difference. And don’t let him off the hook when he rambles on with his Trumponian gobbledygook.

Carol Fletez's avatar

Would that the press Corp were continuously that confrontational! I love the idea of asking him to explain!

The current administration calls climate change a “Democratic Hoax”. Meanwhile, a Super El Nino is forming. Leading up to July 4th, 2026 NOAA is predicting an extreme heat risk in the midwest. 2027 is predicted to be the hottest year on record. Trump may control the media, but his extreme ignorance has left Trump vulnerable to weather related disasters. The weather may ultimately be what takes Trump down. ⚡️

Russ Buckbee's avatar

We need signs that say "This heat is a hoax" D. Trump

The high is DC on July 4th may reach 100! with high humidity. Even if it doesn't reach that high the humidity will be a killer. Expect brownouts in the area. Especially while data centers suck up electricity
