Robert - I just listened to your calm voice giving us the knowledge and perspective we need. Thank you for being like the calm center of a hurricane. Much appreciated.

I was surprised by your words “steadfast support” when referring to 5he Supreme Court. I can’t help but remember they were a part of the problem that ended us here in the first place. Foremost in my mind is their incredible ruling of immunity for the president while in office. Then there were the destructive delays in court proceedings that gave Trump a free pass from any legal consequences for his past actions. It seems to me they supported us very little until their own authority became threatened. Even then, two of the justices continues to make their decisions based on their politics versus the rule of law. Now that the court finally decides to uphold the constitution, it seems too little too late. There is no longer an enforcement agency to carry out their orders, so their rulings have no teeth, and they are reluctant to take actions that might force a constitutional crisis. I get it, whatever they do now is better. than nothing. but I just can’t swallow that their support has been steadfast

The tariffs have been reinstated by an Appeals Court-likely only until the Supreme Court quashes them, probably with a 6-3 majority.

Here's a video of a Lao Tzu poem set to music as song. Written 2,500 years ago it is directly relevant to events of the day. It starts, "Those who would take over the earth, and shape it to their will, never I notice, succeed..." Here's a link: https://vimeo.com/900288512

What do we do about RFK Jr (masquerading as our government) cancelling the contract with Moderna to develop a bird flu vaccine? People are going to die. Other than call our congress ( which I feel is useless in this situation) is there something specific we can do?

I am an 84 grandmother of five amazing grandchildren. I intend to "chop wood and carry water" until my dying day. I refuse to take a negative attitude toward the future of my own adult

children much less my grandchildren. If we want to save Democracy in the United States,

then stop whining, get off the couch, and get to work. Set an example for those who follow you.

You continue to inform and help me stay positive about an eventual improvement in our democracy. There is no doubt that people are suffering and dying from policy decisions being hastily and sloppily made. We are such a young country that it is hard for us to grasp the long picture. There is no excuse for cruelty and hatred, but perhaps seeing these consequences will put us on a better path. Thank you!

From Popular Information some good news from Oklahoma on the opposition to introduction of curricula favoring Christian nationalists and election deniers.

Until your mention of it, I’d forgotten that the declared purpose of Trump’s tariffs was to stop imports of fentanyl. But how would that work—isn’t fentanyl smuggled? Do the smugglers pay tariffs? Was this argument part of the VOS case?

On a lighter note: maybe the TACO slogan will be easily understood by everyone regardless of whether they are wedded to Fox News, etc., or not.

Just look at the NYTimes headline re: West Point graduation "speech" --- They said Trump was ushering in a new era... What?

Cory Amron's avatar

Yes, a “new era” of B-S-, gobbledegook, conspiracy theories, and mentally impaired ramblings. The mainstream media ( or at least the headline writers) are part of the problem.

Americans are announcing their intention never to submit.

Please help disseminate their new nationwide rally tactic: The #PeoplesOath2025

. Simple.

. Powerful.

. Unopposable.

On June 14, every rally should recite this citizen’s pledge to the Constitution.

It will make national news. MAGA will have no answer.

Here it is in action:

As someone who has worked in science & medicine for 30 years, we’re never getting that research back. I completely disagree with your assertion. That data is gone and with it, what could have been in the future.

Today’s “Speak Up For Justice" Virtual Forum, A Call To Action was extraordinary. I was sorry that it ended; I wanted it to go on and on! As you may be aware, the good news is that we’re told the website will be posting actions we can take to support the judiciary. And it sounds like the conversation will continue.

For those who did not attend, perhaps the webinar recording will become available. The recording for last month’s “Virtual Nationwide Event” is posted on the website, where there is also an option to sign up to be notified of upcoming events, along with information about Speak Up for Justice, including:

“Speak Up for Justice seeks to bring the country together to voice support for the judiciary at a time when it is under unprecedented attack. It grows out of a shared recognition that the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary are the hallmarks of our democracy. The attacks on the judiciary have led to an alarming increase in threats to judges and their families. Speak Up for Justice is a show of support for judges who daily strive to realize the promise of justice for all, regardless of who appointed them and whether a decision is popular or not.

“Participating speakers are a cross section of judicial officers, both federal & state, as well as academics addressing the need for us all to speak, in a NONpartisan way, to support our justice system, our lawyers, and our community.”

Thank you, Robert, for bringing Speak Up for Justice to our attention, for informing us of this 'opportunity for reader engagement,' and for much more.
