Are you kidding me? Trump has put up scaffolding around the outside columns of the WH now.

Robert, BIG THANKS, YES, we must ALL be Jack Smith! I love reading the protest signs; my moment of fame & pride came when you posted a photo of me with sign at a protest last year! (Age 87). Afterwards, I put it prominently displayed in a window, but unfortunately got some complaints from others in my CA retirement community & was asked to remove it! It said: DEFEAT FASCISM TO HONOR GOOD & PRETTI. I was naive ……. Guess there are a few who approve of fascism & murder ……. Sad!! 👎😢

Adam Smith's comments made me consider, for the very first time, volunteering as a an elections official.

Adam was that famous economist--but we know you mean Jack. And volunteering would be great! Thank you.

Thank you Robert and Jill. The sound quality on the recording was excellent and had you not mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed. Take time to enjoy a break.

And how about that brave Air Force Major who stood on the Capitol steps and asked for Trump’s impeachment ? There are mensch among us !!!

It’s so inspiring to see the protest photos you post every day. We’ve been in the midst of a heat wave in Chicago area, not sure our folks will b out on the overpass today…I can’t make it in any case, but I will be in Evanston’s very large parade tomorrow, with Indivisible Evanston, fabulous group here, passing out flyers I helped compose with links for folks to do more than just clap as our float goes by…we love the applause, we love doing stuff more!!!

So glad you brought this Nicolle Wallace interview of Jack Smith to your followers. I actually listened to it last night to fall asleep. These people of exemplary integrity and honesty are my bedrock. My Dad, RIP ❤️

Israel's refusal to leave Lebanon sends a worldwide message that it is only interested in nonstop war (genocide) against its neighbors. What is US policy? Vance says Israel should leave Lebanon, Rubio says it should stay.

Robert, as you and your family relaxes and recharges over the July 4th weekend let me extend to you some words I would like to say. And I’m happy speak for all of us.

Thank you for your patriotism. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your dedication to this nation and to us. Thank you for your service to all things that pertain to objective truth. Thank you for believing in us everyday. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness at this incredibly challenging time. I could go on, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your support to the nation and this wonderful community you built.

We will persevere because we’re doing the work.

Good point, Robert! Yay on Jack Smith. I watched the whole interview on Nicole yesterday and was not surprised at the integrity nd his unwavering support for so many honorable prosecutors. but was about his optimistic outlook for repairing the DOJ down the line. One important message was to support the poll workers. I would add Secretaries of State. Protest pics are always great. My special shout out to the sign from Beacon for Democracy about "All My Outrage Won't fit on This Sign" and the "Lie, Cheat, Nap Golf" sign from Middlesex, CT.

Thank you, Robert, and best wishes to all the patriots in the Hubbell community.

As a tiny tribute to all of you, I share the following experience:

On Wednesday July 1, my wife Chris and I drove from our home outside South Bend, south to Indianapolis, for an early dinner with a friend celebrating his 92nd birthday and an evening with our son and his family. Our road took us by the Miami Correctional Facility on the former Grissom Air Force Base, where we spied a tent set up in the heat and painted with a large sign to announce that this facility is a "Concentration Camp" for ICE immigrant detainees. We were aware of this from participating in statewide demonstrations opposing the facility, where some 600 people are detained. In our quick passing we saw just a couple of people under the tent

On our way back yesterday, we stopped at the site and spoke to the two men under the tent (and brought them macarons from the bakery where our teenage granddaughter works). We learned they were not from Indiana, but were from Brooklyn and Northbrook, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. The man from Chicago was wearing a prison black-and-white striped coat and pants and an inverted blue triangle -- the emblem the Nazis placed on enslaved workers and other "stateless people" and immigrants in forced labor concentration camps.

There have been as many as 1,000 demonstrators at the facility over the last two months and I think there will be more this weekend. Numbers matter, but they are not all that matter.

Chris and I were stunned by the integrity and dignity of these two men, men who had traveled a long way to be present in solidarity with others protesting and those imprisoned at the whim of a cruel, corrupt, and callous tyrant. They offered us their camp chairs, but we had to get back for a zoom meeting with some Indivisible colleagues from across the state working on coordinating our GOTV campaigns.

These patriots were probably younger than I (77), but they were not younger by more than a decade, I don't think. I don't know what they did for a living or what brought them together. I didn't ask to take their picture, though I wish now I did. I introduced myself, but they did not offer their names. didn't even ask them why they were there. We told them of our engagement in efforts in South Bend and we silently acknowledged our shared community of citizenship and resistance, though neither of those words were spoken. It was clear they were not there for notice, fame, or to accentuate their moral clarity. They were not even there in the expectation of effecting an immediate change, it seemed to me. Together as Chris and I praised their presence, we basked for a moment in a shared understanding. I think they were there to witness -- a complicated word that means both to "observe" "to see for oneself": and to be observed, to stand as evidence, to testify, as in "bear witness."

We are all witnesses to outrageous ignorance, banality, cruelty, and corruption and we must continue the fight, even when it seems to have little effect. As we have often recalled, the American Revolution was not a sure thing. Even our fight now is not a sure thing. Our 250 years of noble and often flawed experimentmay be at an end. But these two gentlemen bearing witness in 95-degree heat do not think so. They haven't given up on the "red states." And everyone reading this believes in and will fight for the proposition that this republic shall not perish from the earth, especially at the hands of a venal, racist, moronic president and his cruel and cowardly minions. Thank you Robert and Jill and all of you for your courage, brains, and inspiring words and actions.

I suspect that you had an encounter with Blue Triangle Solidarity. Yes, more heroes:

Right you are, Deb. I got a card from the Northbrook gentleman with just that website. Worth our attention, respect, and support. Thanks for reminding me to note that.

I too will be looking for the interview today. Jack Smith is a tower among men of the law. The heat here in Central Maryland has knocked out our Internet connection so thankfully there's still phone service. Everyone especially your family Robert Hubbell and Jill enjoy family this holiday weekend. Our families are the basis for our lives no matter who we consider them to be. Please stay cool and safe and look out for those who may have less access to cooling especially pets, and children and the elderly.

I look forward to listening to the interview, later today. I look even more forward to Jack Smith, or someone like him (Letitia James, Kris Mayes, Rob Bonta) being the next Attorney General, come January , 2029.

For anyone who wants to get involved with getting out the vote, but can't handle canvassing in the summer heat, here is a quick list of postcard-writing opportunities.
