To impeach Trump, we need to win back BOTH the house and the senate, the latter of which there are fewer seats to swing, making it more difficult. But, if democrats win back both, then Trump can be impeached and removed from office. then he can be tried, convicted and sentenced. He then would probably be pardoned by vance who would be president. gosh darn! They wouldn't want to even hear how I would sentence him.

What are the chances that the Armed Forces will en masse refuse to commit war crimes? They are letting that opportunity pass them by now. I believe most Americans are playing by the book we’ve always used, but the Trump regime is not. So he continues to bully his way through mass destruction of our country and its place in the world! We’ve never experienced such total fealty at every level of government - including the SCOTUS, who lost their minds and gave him and only him total immunity. God strengthen all of us fighting and longing for justice. And may we be relentless when we’re in charge in making sure this never happens again. Meanwhile, Congress is in vacation while Trump destroys the world. How can that be???? Bigger, louder, more intense protest is needed!

I do not believe SCOTUS gave presidents total imunity. they gave it to areas that are in the act of carrying out their presidental duties, not those that are in congresses pervue. it also does not exempt them from things like keeping specific papers/documents past their presidency and sharing US secrets with those not given specific reasons for knowing them. They can still be found guilty of treason. I'm sure there are other reasons they could get in trouble as well. But yes, SCOTUS did the US a gigantic misservice.

And I believe Trump heard something different. He thinks everything he does is “official” including showing up in the Epstein files…….

In a parliamentary system, such as Great Britain's, a no-confidence vote typically results in a change of government or a general election: "Traditionally, governments that have lost a confidence vote have either resigned in favour of an alternative administration, or the Prime Minister has requested a dissolution from the Monarch, triggering a general election." [https://www.parliament.uk/site-information/glossary/motion-of-no-confidence/?id=32625] [https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/SN02873/]

In the presidential system of the United States, a motion of no confidence, while possible [https://www.congress.gov/crs_external_products/RL/PDF/RL34037/RL34037.7.pdf], doesn't have the same effect as in a parliamentary system. Our closest analogs are impeachment and conviction [https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artII-S4-1/ALDE_00000282/]; the 25th Amendment [https://constitutioncenter.org/the-constitution/amendments/amendment-xxv]; and congressional elections that can change the balance of power in Congress but don't directly remove the President from office.

What happens, though, when the mechanisms for removing a dysfunctional, even criminal, President prove toothless, and a deranged President puts not just the United States but the world at existential risk? Over time, the failure of those correcting mechanisms eventually leads to one otherwise unpalatable solution: https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/best-sniper-rifles/.

So, Congress, do your job! Impeach and convict. "TDS" doesn't mean "Trump Derangement Syndrome"; it means "Trump's Dementia Sickness." Get rid of our clearly unfit, mentally and morally deranged Presidunce before the "one otherwise unpalatable solution" becomes inevitable.

Every Monday for the past year a little group of us have gathered for an hour of Protest Sign Waving in Owego, NY. “Representative’Nick the Dick’ Langworthy’s area”. It is still only 35 degrees out.

Today a lady walked up and brought us all coffee and donuts to say, “Thank you for being out here and doing this.” So AWESOME 🤩. Helps inspire us to keep going. We invited her to join us at anytime.

A good Robert post. My take: It is terrible that NYT doesn't report out a terrible social media statement by the President immediately. What is wrong? How can the editors not understand the threat right away? The Republicans are a lost cause. No ethics, morals, or backbones so no pushback or outrage. I am glad pilot rescued but the sky is obviously not completely ours. I agree with Robert's "Concluding Thoughts". BTW, I apologized to a Canadian friend a while back when Fatsby was attacking Canada. Heather Reese posted a few days ago that just being kind to others is also a form of resistance to this administration. It shows our common humanity notwithstanding the lack of it by this administration.

As it seems to me...there are 219 Republican representatives and 53 Republican senators in Congress at this time. Those representatives and senators are the persons responsible for the ongoing, unfolding, crisis that is sourced by the United States at this time. At any time those representatives and senators could impeach Trump and end the global terror Trump is producing.

Trump is a mad man; not news. Trump and his lunatic cabinet could be stopped immediately, but for the refusal of 219 Republican representatives and 53 Republican senators to act to stop the insanity. Republican legislators in Congress, not Trump, are responsible for the present crisis.

It is that simple; or am I missing something?

I like the one syllable word challenge!

Here's an effort: Get Trump out of the White House now!

Another: Trump is nuts, and such a bad man. He's done!

Do you think that our representatives would pay attention if we used very simple language in our messages?

Speaking of removing Trump from office, there is a group working for precisely that. Check out maydaymovementusa.org

I am sickened that Congressional Republicans continue to acquiesce to Trump. Disgusting!

Thank you Robert for this excellent report. I agree with all that you write. I also love the protest photos. They give me hope.

Robert and our community, to me, the comments over the weekend tell me we are at a different moment, it is no longer a matter of waiting to get to the midterms. These actions are too extreme way too extreme. Does this mean we should be writing to our senators and congressman to invoke the 25th amendment? I don’t know but we need Democratic leadership to speak out, Speak up, strong, bold, unapologetically. this behavior threatens our safety insecurity to our Armed Forces and those of us right here at home. The midterms are too far away to wait. Even May 1 seems like an eternity.

Agreed! They are completely out of control. Also, very worried about them bending our military towards authoritarianism by purging the competent and cogent leaders. We (ALL of us) are in a very dangerous place.

Democrats and Independents have concluded that Trump is unfit for office, but most of MAGA is still in the bubble and supports him, even though he promised "no new wars" and "lower prices" and then did the opposite. They really are a cult. Here is a gift article from the Financial Times that analyzes this phenomenon. https://giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/actions/redeem/417f569d-c666-4ddf-8d20-1f5c7da876d4

Robert I need to update my credit card. I tried following your directions but it would not let me do it. It asked for my email address then a code. I went out to get the code and could not find where it was to go and then they wanted my email address again. I did this 3 times. Each time they sent me a new code but I couldn’t get back to put the code in. I’m frustrated. Please advise

I figured it out Robert. All is good. Thank you. Sorry for confusion

Now's a good time to call your 3 representatives in Congress with exactly Robert Hubbell's message: time for impeachment. (Senators have some sway over what happens in the House, and certainly have microphones.) It seems many Repubs are getting onboard with this idea at the moment. I was cheered by Hubbell's headline this morning as this is what I did on Easter Sunday.

Trump is inviting the entire Muslim world to destroy us. What in God's name will it take to motivate this Congress, this murder of crows, to take action?!!
