Dear Robert, I have been meaning to write to you for weeks now. I'm so grateful that there is a way to comment on your newsletter page. I am hoping and wondering if you are familiar with the work of Dr. Bandy Lee, the forensic psychiatrist who co-authored a book with 27 mental health experts on The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump. That book came out in 2017, and to much acclaim. I can only recommend that you obtain a copy of the book. The new Canadian Premier himself has referred to it and is warning Canadians that this is what the world is up against. It is crucial that politicians, journalists and others in this country be educated about this malignant narcissist who has most of the traits of a psychopath. If the politicians are informed about the reason for our current state of affairs, which can only be explained by the mental status of the current President (and his sidekick), there might be a possibility to have some movement on this before the entire world, not just our own country, is destroyed. I promise you that, not only am I not a robot, I am also not an hysteric. This is crucial information that the country needs to be acting on. Thank you for all you do!
Organized the first anti Trump demo in Bloomfield CT this Friday. I was tired of going to other towns! So, seven of us marched with our signs from Town Hall to the biggest intersection. We held our signs in 40 mph wind gusts and elicited 50 supportive car honks in 45 minutes. We will be doing this weekly and have already been approached by another local crew who want to join in. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Everyone who donates money to Columbia should write a letter telling them they will stop making donations. Students who can go to college elsewhere should drop out of Columbia. They will think twice about capitulating if they lose donations and students.
Columbia didn’t even really save the $400 million because the bullies will just move the goal posts and do what they wanted to do anyway: in this case take $400 million and more. You cannot appease bullies and tyrants!
Re Columbia, I am sending a donation to Georgetown University in support of their pushback, and will include a note that says that. Thank you for your very helpful explanations.
Thank you so much for recording a video for those of us who couldn’t be there. Your Saturday talks are always helpful in providing explanations, encouragement and hope. I get a sense of comfort from these that written newsletters just can’t provide. Thanks for caring.
Thank you for being measured, civil, and steady. It is great news about Colorado protesters, and the most important line I heard from you was that the protests are growing geometrically instead of mathematically. It is great news that people are finding a way to protest nonviolently and significantly.
I also want to urge people to stay nonviolent. It doesn’t help when property damage occurs. We can only be on moral high-ground when we speak truth to power in solidarity. First amendment rights are for speech. We can try to persuade others to join us.
Thank you so much for your always wise counsel. It energizes me each week.
I appreciated the comments today about 1) never forgetting that the big picture is a completely illegal and unconstitutional regime, 2) continuing doing the cards and letters because at a minimum it changes us, and 3) about the missing step being impeachment and then needing to recognize what is the fallback when it can’t happen.
An old friend posted last week that her son has a horrible autoimmune brain disease and the then cancelled research at Columbia had been the only hopeful thing he had for hanging on to a possible cure in his lifetime. I agree with you entirely about Columbia University, and the horror of the universities and law firms not hanging together. And at the same time I also think about the costs of all this cancelled research all over the country.
My social security account has been "suspended". No warning-no explanation. Unable to make an appointment for local social security office, unable to get through by phone or online. Therefore unable to determine why this is happening. What is going on in this situation is THE REAL DOMESTIC TERRORISM.
I’m so furious that these oligarchs, narcissists, and drug addled selfish sons of bitches are hurting hard working people who have paid into Social Security trusting in the promise of the government. I hope you are able to get a resolution.

Robert, I appreciate you and your wisdom so much. It appears A few of these town halls are having some Republican senators growing a spine.

Thanks Robert. Your videos give me comfort and strength for this fight.
The logic of trying to appease a tyrant:
Tyrant - If you don’t do X thing that I want, I will hurt you in Y way.
Victim - OK, I’m doing X thing that you want.
Tyrant- Ha ha, now I’m going to hurt you in Y way anyhow. Sucker!
That is, ‘If not P then Q’ does not logically entail, ‘If P then not Q’. Obviously! Why do people fall for the tyrant’s spurious reasoning????

Per Margaret Sullivan in The Guardian, Columbia University should have said, ‘We’ll see you in court.’
Sen. Schumer capitulated.
Paul Weiss law firm capitulated.
Columbia University capitulated
They’re all in New York.
Which means they of all people should know better!
But it falls to us to know better and do better.

I’m enraged on your behalf! Document everything and get an attorney, I’d say. Someone should help you pro bono if needed.
How frightening, Rachel.
