Epstein is now apparently CIA. The journalistic sleuth work in examining things about the Zorro ranch done by Alisa Vasques-Rodrigues, points to this. How complicated the maggot trails are, in the secret humus trails under the rocks.

Today in 1922 the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated. There is much history in today's Writer's Almanac where it was noted, such as, "Architect Henry Bacon designed it to resemble the Parthenon, believing that a defender of democracy should be memorialized in a building that pays homage to the birthplace of democracy."

But also this fact, in 1922 the audience was segregated and the president of the Tuskegee Institute, Robert Moton, was not allowed to sit on the speakers’ platform.

40-some years later Martin Luther King,Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech from its steps to the crowd of 200,000.

From yesterday's N.Y. Times column titled "This Is the Formula That Defeated Orban. It Would Defeat Trump, Too." [https://www.nytimes.com/2026/05/29/opinion/hungary-win-election-viktor-orban.html?unlocked_article_code=1.mVA.GhKs.ZuJkKO32qsvn&smid=url-share], by 2026 Pulitzer Prize winner M. Gessen [https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/m-gessen-new-york-times]:

"That's a fifth lesson: Grass-roots organizations that have little or no connection to electoral politics — in the United States, that might be the networks formed by the No Kings rallies, ICE-resistance groups and so on — can matter as much as or more than those already focused on winning votes."

Nothing but corruption and nonsense from this administration. Desecrating the White House and it s grounds, the Reflecting Pool. So awful. Thanks for laying out the corruption for us and what is being done about it in some of the cases: Park fees, Dell stock, Don Jr. inside deal, Batsby on a bill? Markwayne is an idiot. Good on the former judges and LDAD. If anyone would have ever told me these things would be happening in our country before MAGA, I never would have believed it. Protest pics are always great.

This video from 60 Minutes interview with Donald J Trump should have been taken a lot more seriously once it was aired. It foretells what we now see.

Hi Susan,

I called the supervisor of elections yesterday, and canceled my mail in ballot. I was asked why; I said with all the controversy over mail in ballots, I prefer to vote in person. I realize I am fortunate, I can vote ten minutes from my house during early voting and on Election Day.

I know there are going to be problems with the mail in ballots, I live in Florida and they just just changed my congressional district. I was not notified, I saw it on Facebook and called the supervisor of elections for clarification. Indeed, I have a new representative and was not notified of the change.

I guess the staffer in my old representative office will be thrilled, we were on a first name bases, I’m sure she will be glad to get rid of me. Next week, I will be calling the new one.

Our state was badly gerrymandered prior to the new redistricting, If people don’t wake up, we will loss three democratic seats.

How does one make a case for voting republican? Perhaps is brain worms or a lack of a brain. It’s not about party anymore our Republic and freedoms are on the line.

Love that many States are enacting legislation to tax 100% of any money awarded from the thug fund! I have my doubts that he'll share (when has he ever?); but if he does, it'll be to buy an army of his own.

Robert, Your opening paragraphs were the most powerful condemnation of Trump I have read. You are a gifted and compelling writer.

I just got back from Rome and was going to write a blog that makes the same comparison you made about what Trump is doing. I'm going to write it even though you stole my thunder.

One last thing. You noted Dems also need a positive message. Heartily agree. Have you thought about writing a newsletter that suggests what should be in that message?

Phyllis D's avatar

Yes, I agree Stan.

Thank you Robert.

Not one step back, people. Keep moving forward. Resist! Persist!

For the first time in many years, I could not bring myself to finish reading /listening to Today's Edition. About Trump's latest violations, I kept thinking "disgusting." I decided I needed to look up the word: "disgusting is an adjective describing something extremely unpleasant, offensive, or morally unacceptable that causes revulsion, nausea, or a strong feeing of dislike." The definition goes on to say: "It triggers disgust, one of the universal human emotions designed to protect us from contamination and disease." Aha! A very good word indeed! Protection. I am at Peace.

So many ugly stories, so beautifully written. Thank you once again for all you do to keep us both informed and hopeful.

We have a front row seat to the brilliance of Hamilton, Madison, etc. in seeing what a society without checks and balances looks like. It is all corruption, all the time; abuse of power, reckless abuse of power, vindictive abuse of power, moronic abuse of power; it is the quickest way to crash our economy, civility, and standing in the world. It is the way of brutish narcissism and naked nepotism. It is nauseating and heartbreaking and feels extremely precarious. It is something we must never allow again.

I'd like to see Congressional elections become serious matters, wherein we are electing true guardians of democracy, and judicial elections and appointments treated with the seriousness they deserve. The Founders, including George Washington, and by the way, Abraham Lincoln (see his speeches that foretell what we are experiencing now), and others' warnings about party and demagogues were not in jest.

Kathleen DE BLOIS's avatar

The founders had tough times too! Many times they feared what would happen, with Hamilton! So we've been here before. I think many of us are very serious. Look at all of us who stand on bridges and on corners with signs. Most of us are OLD! Listen to all of the cars honking when we're protesting! Today, and yesterday have been terrible days! We simply have to keep on going and not give up!

If Iran's negotiators read today's newsletter there's a word that might give them some good ideas on how to end the war. It starts with C which rhymes with T which stands for Trump.

I like “thug fund” I’ve also seen it called “Cop-beater-slush-fund”. (CBSF)

Trump has declared that he does not care about the midterms.

My question is - why not?

A major loss in the midterms could expose him to many unwelcome consequences, and if he is not concerned, I am.

Kathleen DE BLOIS's avatar

Of course you are, Martin! Trump is an ugly, unaware and uncaring human being! Notice how many people have tried to kill him! We just can't give up!

Jane Gutsell's avatar

They didn't try very hard and not a decent shot among them.

bLUEduRham's avatar

Consequences are something that, thus far, have not applied to him.

Is trump clever enough to sue himself for 10 billion dollars, drop the suit with himself, negotiating with himself for 1.8 billion that he will be completely in charge of? My bias is he is not. Who's doing this?
