One word to describe Republicans- COWARDS.

You must get tired sometimes of needing to reassure your readers of the importance of our acts of resistance, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us to remember that important fact. As you said, this was a particularly rough few days (2026 so far🤦🏼‍♀️) and the reminder today brought a lump to my throat. You are a good man, Robert Hubbell, and I’m thankful for you every day. With your help we stay strong and keep fighting, lol, with greater intensity, volume and in my case, fury at what is happening. 🙏🏻Thank you!

THANK YOU to all the protesters sharing their photos AND Robert for posting them. Truly inspiring HOPE.

Each of us who speaks out publically represents ten others who are not voicing their discontent. This statistic should help us feel the power of our voice .

Great round up Robert, but we need more actionable things to focus on. Who is running in 2026 in winnable or flippable districts that we can donate to? What can we do to put pressure on Congress and the media?

Great post as usual. But we need a Dem candidate in 2028 who is a fighter, it is a shame that we don't have a memorial up for the Capitol Police who defended Democracy on Jan 6. I can't wait to impeach and throw this administration into the garbage bins of history and hopefully prison.

Do not dispair, fellow patriots!

Are you overwhelmed?

**Go on a media diet, and remind yourself that the tide is turning. Each of these unspeakable events converts more moderates, Independents and Dems that didn't vote.

**Stay focused on what you can do. Think about registering young people to vote....attending a protest....getting involved in a postcard campaign.

**Consider the chaos to be noise. Noise that you can tune out while you focus on the mid-terms.

WE CAN DO THIS. WE MUST DO THIS. WHATEVER YOU DO, IT IS SOMETHING!

(And, we need to give Robert a bit of a break. He is human. He gets discouraged sometimes, too. But, he does not QUIT, or whine, or fail to come up with encouraging words for us. Return the favor - get involved!!)

This is a good Robert post to try to control the upset over the gross website trying to rewrite history of 1/6. Fatsby fears impeachment. The DT chaos and constant b.s. coming from the administration about everything including Venezuela is challenging. Clearly there is chaos and repression there. The DOJ is a complete failure in every way: violation of International law and fulfilling the law to release Epstein files. Gaiser should be disbarred.. The Pro-Democracy photos are great and inspiring!

A quote I saw yesterday says it best:

"Thank God Congress isn't alive to see what Trump is doing to this country."

I've noticed that the list of protests are mostly events that are held on weekdays. It would be helpful to arrange as many protest marches as possible on the weekends. Many more of us could attend and raise even more awareness re: the extent and breadth of the Trump opposition.

Does anyone think the guys who landed on Omaha Beach didn't have doubts and fears? Does anyone think the men who crossed the Delaware with General Washington at the low point of the Revolution, thus saving it, didn't have doubts?

As a military historian I can assure you, they had doubts. As did the guys on Little Round Top, the Marines who crossed the wheatfield at Belleau Wood, the guys whose landing craft got hung up on the reef at Tarawa, the men who survived the retreat out of the Chosin Reservoir. All of them. Everywhere.

And despite their fears and doubts, they did it anyway.

So why don't we decide to follow the examples of our fellow Americans in difficult times?

Hi Robert,

I have been a subscriber for over a year, and I have never commented. (I am not much of a public poster, and I never feel like I have the time to do it). I am deeply committed to the resistance and am doing numerous actions consistently including calling my reps, going to protests, phone banking, canvassing, and trying to motivate and uplift friends and co-workers. I have not given up and will not give up. Of course I feel discouraged and overwhelmed at times, but I have never felt such a deep inner fight ignited in me that will not let up, and it feels so good to channel it into action. (My most exciting current project is volunteering for Saikat Chakrabarti who is running for Congress in Pelosi's seat here in San Francisco).

I felt compelled to write you today, as I have have wanted to many other times, and just let you know how much I appreciate you, in particular for the way you consistently and constantly field feelings from readers about all that is going on, and your ability to listen, accept, and then provide a much necessary and helpful perspective. Your ability to do this is superhuman and invaluable. Your mind cuts through all the noise, be it the news and/or the feelings of distraught readers, and finds exactly what needs to be said to keep us motivated, engaged, and clear-headed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing whatever you need to on a personal level to be able to provide and sustain this viewpoint for all of us. You do it in a non-judgemental and loving way, and I just think you are amazing in how you can do this!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

-Brook

No one is buying those Second-Hand American Dreams any more….

How could he?? Well, as Tim Snyder would say one thing is not changing and that is the tradition of American imperialism and the coups and brutal regime change sponsored by our government that has led to so much bloodshed and suffering:

1899 McKinley - Philippines

1954 Guatemala- Eisenhower

1961 Kennedy- Bay of Pigs, Cuba

1964-72 Viet Nam -Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon

1965 LBJ -Dominican Republic

1973 Nixon- Chile

1980 Carter-El Salvador

1981 Reagan- El Salvador

1983 Reagan-Granada

1989 Bush sr.- Panama

1993 Clinton- Somalia

1996 Clinton Bosnia

2001 Geoge Bush jr, Obama, Trump – Afghanistan

So why the outrage? Why now?? Is it because Trump is so blatant about imposing regime change that he makes no attempt to cloak it in squalid rhetoric of anti-communism and announces his intent to possess the resources of other countries for American business elites that cater to his authority? Or…

Because the bombastic saber rattling of small, weak and ugly white men no longer brings the admiration of Americans who no longer need to feel superior at the expense of others?

Or is it, as Steve Goodman once sang, that no one is buying those old ‘second-hand American dreams’ of exceptionalism and destiny?

The global community denounces it as imperial conquest.

The Venezuelan population denounces it as imperial conquest.

The American people denounce it as imperial conquest.

America has changed. We have changed. As Snyder says, we can see and we understand. More Americans from all generations, backgrounds, regions and classes, are opposed to Trump; his delusions of grandeur, lies and misinformation, his acts of persecution and repression. The corruption, the treason, the degradation of our basic principles of democratic society. We ae not buying any more second-hand American dreams.

Our allies have changed. They are not buying any more second-hand American dreams.

The Latino states, regions, and communities throughout Central and South America are not buying any second-hand American dreams.

A great wave of reckoning is inevitable. Bullies, predators and abusers cannot stop until they are held accountable. Until then, they pursue more acts of repressive suffering and pain for their own ill perceived gains. Trump, MAGA and his advisors, enmeshed in their obsequious and blind obedience are wedded to a distorted ideology of religious and ethnic entitlement. They cannot raise the alarm. They embrace it. But America is waking up with a growing resistance and a new free America movement that will expedite the great Reconstitution:

Instead of persecution and injustice there will be accountability and justice

Instead of greed and corruption there will be equity and redistribution

Increase of hatred and intolerance there will be compassion with social and judicial affirmation of civil rights, and the Bill of Rights

Instead of censorship, and oppression there will be expanded democratic measures of self-determination, narrative and agency

This too shall pass. The resistance grows as his depraved policies attempt to deaden our country with the plague of alienation, despair, indifference and conformity. We are so much better than this, and the resistance is spreading.
