I've settled hundreds of lawsuits on behalf of individuals who have had their rights abused and denied by government actors. Never once could I imagine that if I had tried to insert a clause in the settlement shielding my clients from tax fraud investigations, past and future would I continue to be licensed to practice. That kind of settlement is completely against the law and any lawyer that tries to rape taxpayers at this AG tried to do is not going to be calling himself a lawyer much longer.
After listening to HCR yesterday - she had a different perspective on Sherrill's response to the actions that did include some destruction of property...if the governors in blue states don't act, Trump will a la Minnesota. Something to consider.
This is a classic good Robert post. It explains his position and what is going on. I agree with what he says about Governor Sherrill. Outside agitators...no out of state concerned citizens and the NJ State Police were too aggressive and aggravated the situation. I don't see how the Thug Fund could ever be legal or hold up. No valid lawsuit or damages so how can you settle a suit that is invalid and has no damages. It was a con. The big part as Robert discusses is the immunity from audits he wants for himself and his criminal sons. I say "No!" that has to be permanently snuffed. Blanche is a disgrace. Batsby's pronouncements about Iran is beyond belief and sad for our troops as well as us. Great ProDemocracy Protest pics...love the one with "Flip me off if you like being Ripped off by Trump"--"Got many laughs and smiles, got one finger and had to say "what a fool"! Good for that man.
So it's impossible that despite all of the peaceful protesters there weren't some agitators looking to provoke a reaction from the police? I've been to enough protests to know better.

Hopefully that means so many people are sending her complaints about her deeply disappointing response to the protests at Delaney Hall last week that their servers are crashing under that pressure. Meanwhile, I love the protest photos posted by Robert Hubbell. They demonstate the communities of friends which have developed through standing together for democracy. Just how we feel when we stand with our friends and neighbors in our town.
When Netanyahu conned an addled fool named Trump into going to war, he set in motion the potential self-destruction of Israel. The conscience of the world can no longer ignore the blatant genocide in South Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank. To this, the worldwide economic catastrophe, which will only get worse, adds fuel to the anti-Israel fire.
By refusing to negotiate until Israel stops the slaughter, Iran has cleverly bought time for itself, enhanced its image, and made clear who the terrorist state in the Middle East really is. This has put the fabulously rich Gulf States in the position of choosing Iran over the US/Israel.
Once upon a time not so long age, the survival of South Africa and Rhodesia was at stake. South Africa made the right choice, Rhodesia didn't. Israelis are facing the same choice.
Thank you, Robert, for calling out Mikie Sherrill. It was appalling to me that she sent in state troopers to combat protestors instead of ICE! How short-sighted is she? Having her serve in the military was one of the factors that got her elected. She made a huge blunder with that decision. So disappointing…
I was at that gathering in Pleasant Hill last Saturday and am in fact, in that picture. You can’t really see me but I am in the back, behind the gentleman with the flag, talking to a friend of mine. We both have big hats on. My friend is the mother of the Professor and author of Miranda Yaver, who has written a book called “COVERAGE DENIED” about how insurance companies screw people over.
Marlene- I find myself becoming more concerned about the vast number of former military personnel who are currently running for Congress. While I grew up in the military, and have known many honorable people with that background, I find myself feeling increasingly squeamish about it.
My dad, a career Navy pilot, talked often about his strong belief that civilian control of the military is one of America’s great strengths. But, what happens when the “civilians” controlling the government were all substantially formed by their military service? I’m not so sure.
Shame on Governor Mikie Sherrill.
