I’m very concerned because I have not been receiving your column every day as I have for the past two or three years. Why? If my subscription has expired , I want it renewed. Please restore my daily subscription to Today’s Edition. Thank you!
I'm sure this question has come up before in this community, but I don't believe that Trump can think up most of these ideas all by himself as in outside the Project 2025 manual. (Okay, maybe he thought of the cage fight on the White House lawn on July 4, 2026...) What I want to know is "who is whispering in his ear?" Bannon? Miller? Loomer? All of the above? None of the above? Someone else? On one hand we say he's spiraling into dementia but on the other hand, he's throwing up all these distractions which the press gobbles up. Staying the course with "Justice 4 Epstein Victims" seems to be the best sticky thing we have so far and Gov. Newsome's giving as good as Trump dishes out also has merit. But I go back to "who's the brains behind all this?"
Good evening Robert can you share with us your thoughts about the way the military leadership as well as line men and women feel about the way Trump is inserting them in our civil lives. I hope the majority are not enjoying this. It is frightening to see this mounting presence in our cities. Thank you
My comment is a bit removed from the general news we are reading, but still a huge part in realizing all that has taken place. The White House Historical Association is a private, educational, non-profit, founded by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961 with the purpose of collecting and exhibiting the very best of American history and culture. Historians and researchers will write about the White House during the Trump presidencies, of the appalling changes proposed, and some of them completed. What will they record as "...the very best of American history and culture" during the Trump era?
Because Putin has been ruled a war criminal by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the minute he deplanes, and his foot touches U. S. soil he can be arrested. Does the ICC have its own law enforcement officers? Could the Alaskan AG have him taken into custody?
1) Robert, I appreciated your Saturday comment about only 10% of American colonists being "activists" during the Revolution and how we should not get discouraged when it's only a small percentage today fighting this mess. It's discouraging but also a privilege in a way. I would also think the same is true on "the other side." And our side is stronger and smarter and in the right.
2) After the DC mess, I decided it was time to write my City Council members. I hope that in all of our cities, councils are talking in advance about what they will do if and when the time comes. I'm in Texas, so perhaps Trump won't be picked on as much, but I'm in a city of immigrants--very diverse with our first Muslim mayor. I'll share my letter in case anyone wants to borrow and edit for their purposes. I have also shared before that my state LWV has "action alerts" when I can submit my address and have a populated addressee list from which to select recipients. Here's the letter: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jrdn_hDoT_T73-BWmjanUN0cwVsLK2kInLlCizV7nIY/edit?usp=sharing
My wife and I listen to you each morning as we take a long walk. As I was walking, a couple of the stories you were relating seemed like ideal topics for a letter to the editor to my local paper, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I like writing letters because the 30 minutes that I spend writing can translate into a whole lot of people seeing a viewpoint similar to the one you (and now I) made today.
I hope there is a protest against the abuse and abandonment of the Constitution by this administration but I don't see one specifically on this list. What a great list! Check it out.
Be a good time for a letter to the editor about the media's neglect to mention the illegal, anti-Constitutional actions of this administration. Anyone else interested to write a letter to the editor on the subject for Constitution Day?
So, now we have some idea of WHY Mike Johnson has been such a pompous sycophant in Trump's corner. He's as dirty as the others. I look forward to a near-future Attorney General prosecuting his/her predecessor, Pam Bondi, and a host of others. This will all make the Epstein Trials (which will also happen) look like child's play (pun intended).
Robert, I got a good laugh from your comments about your image of the Cave Nebula! In fact, my best laugh of the month so far! I see, almost directly below my comment, another comment about that image, the likes for which are certain to eclipse those for my comment! Darn!
And thank you for another great issue of Today's Edition!
Thom Hartmann echoes up what Robert wrote today just in different words. In today's substack Hartmann wrote "Trump is in collapse, his psyche fracturing, his infrastructure mirroring his breakdown, his institutions weaponized around his rage.
The rupture is real, and it’s here, now. There will be no more subtle signals. It’s confrontation or collapse.
Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light they are trying to force upon us".
National Guard troops are patrolling the National Mall as the orange maniac declared they are "taking over" the D.C. police to stop the criminals. Ironically, crime is as low as it's been in D.C. At the same time, Putin is playing him for the fool he is, as he continues to pull the 🟠💩's strings. Authoritarianism is knocking down the doors to democracy one-at-a-time.
Living in the SF Bay Area, where we still have seen little violence on our streets, it's easy to go about one's daily life as if nothing is wrong. But too many live in fear. Hegseth reiterates that women shouldn't be allowed to vote https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/09/pete-hegseth-video-pastors-women-voting. The legacy media has let all of us, and democracy, down by not reporting honestly and accurately on the atrocities taking place in America.
As Robert often reminds us, we can't let our guard down. What the right-wing fascists didn't take into account was Americans strong resistance to their rule. The Resistance has not, and will not, bend the knee. There are more of us than of them....and truth to power will prevail.
Robert, thank you for all the hard work you put into the newsletter. It is so refreshing to read your comments; clarifying all the jumble of news out there. Much appreciated!
After all this time . . . . a moment of realization that not only is your voice soothing to listen to, Robert, but listening to it also gives me a better opportunity to take notes on what you have to say! It's all good! And I thank you.

Under 18 U.S. Code § 2441 - War crimes; could Putin be arrested once he sets foot on American soil on Friday, August 15th?
Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Epstein, Trump, Trump, Trump, Russia, Russia, Russia, believe the victims, believe the victims, believe the victims, Maxwell, Maxwell #Epstein #EpsteinTrumpFiles

I came across the fact that Constitution Day is September 17. Who knew?

Trump recently slipped and said he was "going to Russia" to talk with Putin -- which must be some news to terrified Alaskans. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/i-m-going-to-russia-on-friday-trump-appears-to-forget-alaska-is-in-us-as-he-frets-over-facing-putin-amid-dc-crime/ar-AA1KjJhu
Between him and Witkoff, we've got some pair running U.S. policy toward the Putin regime.
