Robert Hubbell, you are such a gem. Basically the only thing/person keeping me hopeful in this frightening time is your voice, literally, and wisdom. Incredible. I couldn't be more grateful!! Thank you!!!!

Slogans are effective memory pegs, in addition to the peaceful letters, calls and peaceful protests.

Here is one: The acronym for delerium tremens is the DT's.

A person with these initials, who is drunk with abuse of power, is giving this country the DT's,

Why should we believe that Trump will respect the limits in the Insurrection Act? He doesn’t respect any other constitutional limits.

Thank you, Robert, for today’s talk. At the end of your talk, your words of support and encouragement to keep on keeping on has come at the perfect time. I phone my Reps and Senators daily. I rally every Saturday. I write letter to the editor. I read multi podcasts and newspapers as well as watch tv and even tune into Fox News for as long as I can stand the lies. Today I am exhausted and am wondering if I can continue my resistance until the 2026 elections!!! I want to decompress but do not want to miss the hell that is being thrown at us every day. So I guess I need to find a balance to protect my sanity !!! I will try to take a break when needed!! I am overwhelmed with the cruelty and inhumanity that Trump/ Musk snd Project 2025 are demonstrating day after day and the loyalists and sycophants are horrific in their acceptance of that cruelty and inhumanity!!!!!!!! Our world has been turned totally upside down!!!😳

Do pace yourself and take whatever time you need to refuel and keep from being overwhelmed. Thank you for all this.

Thank you, Robert. You are a Rock of Gibraltar for so many. Take care of yourself, find daily joy, and indeed, trust in the better days ahead. With gratitude and affection for you, Jill, and this community.

The SAVE Act will make voting very difficult for Americans living abroad. There are 3 million Americans living abroad who vote. Most of us are Democrats.

We are looking for a filibuster in the Senate to stop passage of the SAVE Act.

Robert and all,

I want to comment on the SAVE Act. My goal is to increase awareness for those in blue states as to how bad things can get. I'm in the Dallas, Texas area. Here in Texas, we have no online voter registration. What we do have is what's called Volunteer Deputy Registrars, who take a course and are certified to accept applications BY COUNTY. In other words, if I go to an event attended by individuals living in multiple counties, I must be certified in the applicant's particular county. Like most everywhere, certain demographics have a lower VR % than others. My two big areas of focus are naturalization events and colleges/universities/trade schools.

Now, CURRENTLY, our challenges include:

--no real effort on the part of the state to inform eligible voters of the voting registration and actually voting process here. An example? Non-profit voter information and registration groups are no longer allowed in classrooms, as part of orientation, and in some cases no indoors of public universities. Here in Texas also one must be registered 30 days prior to an election, so, yes, a lot of kids don't know. (We do our best to be at "free speech" areas on campus on a regular basis.)

--To register, eligible voters can apply at their county elections office, or pick up a mail-in application at various places (again, one more step, plus lots of places run out and don't refill, or when they obtain or renew a driver's license (the wait time is currently 4 months), or at a community event or wherever there's a VDR (above).

--Those applications must be delivered to the county, in person, also by a VDR for that county, within 5 calendar days.

We all stick together, coordinate, etc., but as an example of what our work looks like. A fellow VDR accepted a Dallas County application 4/11. He asked if I could deliver it to Dallas County, as I am closer, and I agreed. I am retired and have more time. I met him today (north of me) and can take to Dallas early next week. I will have put 76 miles on my car roundtrip for this application.

I am not complaining about MY situation. I'm thankful to be able to do this. But, this is what Republicans are counting on...trying to set up a system that puts lots of steps and inconveniences in the way of getting registered.

I will say that if SAVE were to pass the Senate and go into law, I don't see how the VDR program would continue.

AND...another frustration piece of this is that when we submit applications, the county forwards the info to the Texas Secretary of State, who verifies citizenship with the DMV and/or Social Secruity.

This is adding a burden to the applicant when there is no problem to begin with.

So...grrr.

My husband and I listened to the recording since we were protesting at our local post office over cuts to USPS this morning. Postal workers who went by in vehicles to deliver mail gave us a thumbs up and two who worked as clerks in the post office came out and thanked us. One took our photo for the local union newsletter and another came out a joined us for a bit after her shift was over. Our postal workers appreciate a show of support.

As far as the 4 Dems who voted for the SAVE act, they are on the mailing list for pink slip postcards this week.
