I don't know if you have addressed this but I am very alarmed by the clause buried in the big bad bill that limits the power of the Court. It's on page 602. It says the Court can't hold someone in contempt or fine them or jail them or force compliance unless the accuser puts up a large bond. This means only the wealthy can seek assistance from the Courts. Right now the Courts are the main thing limiting the President's many unconstitutional and terrible actions. The bill also limits how the Courts can issues injunctions and temporary restraining orders. have called about this but we need many people to raise the alarm!!!
I called our lovely horrific NC House Representative Virginia Foxx to let her know how upset I was with her for voting for the Budget especially since the majority of her constituents depend upon medicaid and live in rural areas. It is shocking how little she cares for us except for reelection to her 12th term at 82 years old. She is the little short white haired lady who yelled shut up, shut up, go away to the reporter last year when Johnson was asked a question.
I totally understand the baby exhaustion - we have 6 grands - totally a pleasure but going home is also a pleasure! I could never understand my mother saying she loved us visiting with our 3 but after we left the house was so lovely and quiet!!!
As for doing something - Marc Elias on your talk with him said whatever you do you are doing something even if it is writing a postcard, making a phone call. We are organizing a funeral for the death of our Constitution as one of our events complete with a cardboard coffin, bagpipes, preacher giving a eulogy, all of us dressed in black, and a march like in New Orleans. I asked a bagpipe friend if he could play the bagpipes - we had not crossed passed for years - he was thrilled because he had been meaning to do something and now he could participate - You never know when you will touch someone. So bravo for the nursing home gal - every bit counts.
i have 1 friend unregistered and 1 independent. Both get Trump email etc, no Dem stuff. Why?
Like to give some of my ideas. We can be better friends with Canada and Mexico thru sports and entertainment. Baseball and basketball teams in Mexico City, Vancouver. Concerts! Calif should have its own "travel agency" to arrange more togetherness with Canada,Mexico. We are NOT maga!

Yep, made me cry too. I just sent out more postcards to my reps asking (telling) them to get off their butts, grow a spine and DO something (OK, I was a bit more polite than that). They write letters (looking at you, Chuck), have meetings, conduct investigations, question candidates and others, but NO ONE KNOWS (other than those on this substack!). They need to be out in public, making NOISE, putting up obstacles to every GOP proposal and nominee, creating GOOD TROUBLE, lots of it. Their presence, their visibility, their courage, will encourage others to join them. The time for polite decorum and business as usual is over.
The woman quoted above is my hero. Unfortunately, most of those in power are cowards.

I truly cannot believe I heard KatyTur of MSNBC today. She had David Frumm on and he was listing how Trump is not following the rule of law and our democracy was in danger.Her response was if that is true —why aren’t they American People protesting?
Obviously she doesn’t watch her fellow Rachel Madow who to her credit highlights or protests! And maybe she should give the Americans who protest more coverage!!!

We are currently in Fairfax VA visiting our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter who just graduated from college. (Our daughter-in-law gets your newsletter too.)
