Good morning from Iceland. Thank you for your call for civility. However, I am a horrible person. I am not happy that yet another person was killed by gun violence. But I am not unhappy that one ugly voice is no more. According to this voice, I should not exist in the USA, my marriage with Bob should not exist, a whole lot of my "kids" and friends should have been stoned to death. I can go on. "Empathy for me, not for thee."

I'm finding that there are so many elements of this killing that it's hard to calibrate my reaction. There's the irony, there's the asymmetrical decency, there's the MAGA conspiracy impulses, there's Kirk's ugly and laser-focused agent provocateur nature, there's his family...trying to figure out where to land amidst all this is difficult but necessary. Also, I recommend people read this statement by Stacey Patton, a Black professor and journalist, about Kirk's quite horrific impact on her and her colleagues' lives. It is a perspective I hadn't really heard before. https://www.facebook.com/OccupyDemocrats/posts/breaking-journalist-and-college-professor-stacey-patton-goes-viral-by-penning-a-/1280546987510206/
