I would like to put this notion out there:

I hate that Trump’s attack on Iran caused Iran to retaliate that resulted in six American lives lost, plus other casualties, in Kuwait.

In my mind, at least, I am adding their names to the other lives lost to the Trump regime like Renee Good, Alex Pretti and lives lost in Trump’s illegal concentration camps who we’re commemorating by “Say their Names.”

I know the service members signed up for their service. But they have lost their lives due to Trump’s illegal attack on Iran.

Anyway, here are the names released so far:

“Based on reports from March 3-4, 2026, regarding a drone attack on a U.S. military facility in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, the Pentagon has identified four of the six Army Reserve soldiers killed in the incident:

The New York Times

The four identified soldiers are:

Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida

Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska

Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota

Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa

The New York Times

All four were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa. Two other service members killed in the same attack have not yet been publicly identified.

Trump says Iran would not negotiate seriously so we bombed them. Russia won’t negotiate seriously so we support them. How consistent is this?

This is a an incredible Robert post. Every section gives cogent and important news. I think sometimes it is easy to be overwhelmed by so much bad stuff but Robert's positive outlook really helps. I agree with what he writes about the undisciplined and haphazard way this war is being waged by these butt heads with bad consequences already happening and an outcome that is very uncertain. Protest photos are great. Love the "Operation Steinfury" sign. The

Senate failed to pass the War Resolution, of course. They are an abomination and make you want to curse them all for not caring about our country. They are disgusting.

If you haven’t seen it, watch Jamie Raskin’s questioning of Noem. It was great. She looked like a small and pathetic loser. He really nailed her.

Don't you imagine the 9 law firms now in the wheel house put a bug in The Don's ear, telling him this retreat will be damaging to them, their income and what remains of their reputations?

I believe ALL of us should be calling our senators/reps with messages about 3 things: pass war powers resolution and END this war. Stay strong on refusing to fund DHS/ICE without major changes. REHIRE the counterterrorism/Iran specialists Patel fired! This was an insane move making us much more vulnerable to an attack…Thom Hartmann wrote an article today suggesting that Trump admin could purposely be laying the ground to make a spectacular attack more likely to help save his presidency, in a similar way to how 9/11 saved GW Bush’s early, incompetent presidency. Horrifying.

One of the best editions Robert. As the son of Austrians may I say that SCHADEN FREUDE is pronounced like you said Schaden and Freude is pronounced like Sigmund Freud but with the “e” at the end articulated, like TELE. Hope it’s ok to mention this. '

Robert B. Hubbell's avatar

It's a tough one. I double checked the pronunciation before the audio, but felt I did not give the emphasis to the final "e." But it was late and repeating it wouldn't have resulted in improvement . . . Thanks for the tip.

Question: Do the law firms that bent a knee have any recourse at this point? After all, if the government can change its mind about proceeding doesn’t it seem only right that the law firm should have a right to withdraw from their original agreement and pursue justice?

Robert B. Hubbell's avatar

They could withdraw from their agreements on the ground that four courts have determined they violate the Constitution.

John D. Cooper's avatar

Then they should do so or continue as shameful lawyers.

My ResistBot letter for Mar 4: Recent reports allege that some military commanders framed U.S. operations against Iran as fulfillment of Christian end-times prophecy. Whether fully verified or not, such claims demand immediate congressional hearings to protect constitutional neutrality in the exercise of war powers. Follow this link to send letters to your members of Congress.

"Even Trump has had the good sense to stay away from race." tRUMP does not have a scintilla of good sense on any matter or subject. ALL of his sense amounts to cents; the more he can bribe and steal, the better, in his corrupt, depraved, vile view.

The Strait of Hormuz is basically shut down because of Iranian drones and missiles. In addition to oil, the Strait is apparently the waterway by which the gulf states get food. They also rely on desalination plants for water; the plants are well within range. It seems Iran's regime has the idea that carnage in the gulf states may bring the war to an end.

A lot to digest here. However the nine law firms which chose to capitulate to T…p should take a lesson from his playbook and pivot. T…p is on the ropes and is in a TACO mode. Time to get some cojones.

I'm inclined to believe that some of our troops have been subjected to Christian nationalists rhetoric about the purpose of the action against Iran.

I was hoping Jasmine Crockett would pull this off - don't trust Talarico and am afraid his strong religious beliefs will stop him from challenging this administration. Many are concerned that should he win the Senate seat he will another "John Fetterman", saying he's a Dem when, in reality, he leans more to the right.

I can't help but wonder if the "boost" he got from his interview being "canceled" on The Late Show was planned by Bari Weiss to knock out Jasmine. Another reason she may have lost is because she is an outspoken, unafraid woman of color. Most red states have problems with women, in general, let alone a Black woman with a brain who isn't afraid to speak out and speak up. Sign of our times...sigh.

I have not doubt the Armageddon story is true. We are supporters of the Freedom from Religion foundation and this issue, along with the blurring of the separation of church and state, should not be ignored. I recall years ago Diane Feinstein being challenged by a right-wing talk show host who told her - I paraphrase - that Jesus will return when the Jews of Israel accept him as their savior. And, if they don't they will be eliminated. Can't remember her reply but it was spot on.

While no single group is ever responsible for "winning" or "losing" an election, Talarico performed very strongly with Latinos across Texas. Latinos now represent the largest population demographic in Texas. Finding a candidate who can win the largest voting bloc in Texas is an important qualification.

John Fetterman was an unknown, untested candidate in a way that Talarico is not. He may be a centrist, but he is no Joe Manchin or Krysten Sinema.

Rebel408's avatar

Thank you, Robert. For many of us it's hard to keep up with all the candidates across the country. We've been "burned" with several in mostly red states switching parties in mid-stream. Personally, I think that should be grounds for removal from office and running again in their new party.

I count on opinions like yours and Today's Edition readers to help me shift through the noise generated by mis/disinformation and political pundits. Glad to read that Talarico is ok. Both he and Crockett are members of our new generation of politicians; people desperately needed to refocus the Dem Party.

Tayama 2's avatar

I’ve been listening to a lot of interviews of Talirico over the last year. He’ll push back, he’ll push back plenty.

I like them both. Whomever wins I hope the Dems and Independents come together and support them.

Rebel408's avatar

Good to hear. I realize that those of us who don't live in TX don't have the full picture. People across the country worked hard to elect Fetterman to see him turn full DINO which is why people were "edgy" about Talarico. I agree with you that this will not be a time for Dems to splinter over a candidate. It's an All Hands On Deck time, for sure.

Tayama 2's avatar

Fetterman. What a huge disappointment that is! I first became aware of Talirico when I started doing deep dives into learning about the Christian Nationalist movement in this country.

It’s a powerful movement that has captured the Republican Party.

Talirico is vehemently against it. I think his voice is very important now. He provides an off ramp to Christians who are very uneasy about how this administration is weaponizing the Scriptures.

I’m not a Christian; I’m just a citizen who is trying to understand how we got here.

I hope he can flip that Senate seat!

I think if you get on YouTube and watch his speeches over the past 2 - 3 years, you will really wonder where this idea that he will "turn into a Fetterman" has come from.

PBS news is struggling and here in the DC area WETA is the supporting station that creates and provides the programming for PBS news. If you are able to hear or see it via any online connections wherever you are, it would help to pledge even minimum support before this coming Friday. In addition your financial supports provide a WETA passport to stream a huge number of US and UK series including all the Ken Burns documentaries. Go to WETA.ORG. THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME THIS community appeal.

Quick question re: PBS Newshour. We are monthly contributors to PBS/NPR. Is funding for Newshour separate from a monthly contribution to the network itself?
